Logitech G9 thumb button clicking issues

Thread Starter
My Logitech G9 is about a year old. Lately, the thumb button has been having an odd issue. When I click it, either it doesn't register the click or it registers the click twice, which is extremely annoying (ie: in internet browsing - it goes back two pages or does nothing at all).

I cleaned out the mouse, and changed the grip to see if that was the cause. That didn't help. Has anyone had this issue and fixed it or should I just call up Logitech? Could it be driver related? I heard of it happening before but not sure if it's just the mouse itself wearing out.

If they must replace the mouse, is anyone aware if Logitech lets you 'downgrade' to a lower priced mouse (if this is actually a problem with the G9 itself, I would request a G500 or MX518)?

I had my G9 for 2 years and never had that problem. Sounds like something mechanical, not driver. I'd call Logitech. Don't scrap the G9... hopefully they'll give you a new one.

Yeah, I was trying to see if it was anything else besides mechanical before I would call and see if they would replace it (knowing Logitech, they would). But yeah, the G9 really is a great mouse.

I was thinking drivers but I don't have any 'extra' mouse drivers installed on my PC (I use Setpoint on a seperate PC to setup my profiles).

It takes some time but you (or atleast I) get used to the G9. It's really comfortable for me now

The G9 was my favorite mouse. it's still in perfect condition. i only just 'upgraded' to a Razer Imperator because I had a gift card and that was the oldest piece of hardware I had... it was great though.

E-mail them and they'll probably send you a new mouse.

either you wore the plunger on the button cover, unless you can fabricate a new button cover you will have to contact Logitech Support or the copper spring inside the microswitch is worn but it can be repaired.

I called Logitech and they said they will set up an RMA if I would like. I didn't set it up yet as I want to try it a couple more days to see if the problem keeps up.

They just said to call back and mention my ticket number and they'll set it up then if I choose. That and they said I could probably request a G500/MX518 as well if I prefer.

Yeah they said chances are it's just a mechanical issue.

if the copper leaf spring is worn in the microswitch this is how to correct it.

First off. The G9 is an amazing mouse, much better than g5 or g500.

My G9 does not have this problem and his over a year old, so I would look at getting it replaced
