The WD raptor is respectfully one of the best out there. But why? And is it worth it? Will i get the bang for my buck? What will it benefit for me with only 74gb?
Well, the raptor's speed is the main part. With a 10,000 rpm speed, it beats out its competitors (Fujitsu, Samsung, Seagate) by a good 3,000 rpm. 10,000 is very speedy, compared to the normal 7,000 rpm that comes with normal high-capacity hard drives. With a sata 1 connector, speed is boosted greatly compared to the utdated IDE hdd's. Another advantage of the raptor is it's 4.5 ms seek time, providing super fast 4.5ms seektime and an 8mb buffer. Comparing the Raptor to other hard drives, well, its just not a fair match.
As you can see the raptor beats out its other high performing competitors bu a wopping 4 ms seek time improvement. The raptor also provides the system with more data faster, as this graph shows.
And you ask, will 74gb be enough. Well, that i cannot answer. It really depends on the user. If a lot of downlaoding is done, you might need 2, but this is all up to the user of the hdd.
