Hey there.

Some of the new ASUS duo core units are quite nice for around your budget and they utilise the x1600 GPU. Try a search on the A6J models

cheers

I don't know any places that ship to Australia, but here are the best notebook makers:
VoodooPC (voodopc.com)
Falcon Northwest (I think falconnw.com)
Dell XPS (dell.com)
All American Computers (can't remember address but I don't think they'd ship to Australia lol)

There are some other good ones but I can't think of them now.

What's the exchange rate, because anything from most gaming companies is expensive. Do you need it to be an actual laptop or just portable? Voodoo sells the Idol ( http://www.voodoopc.com/system/quote...productID=1088 ) starting at $900 which is the size of a Mac Mini. It's pretty cool.

Also the DELL INSPIRON 9300 is quite decent at around the AU$2450.00 to $2600.00 mark to fit your budget and utilises the 6800 GPU.
Or the 9400 for around the same with a 7800 GPU.

footnote: Why post information that is virtually useless about models and stores not available to the Australian market.
Look at the users location.(smacks of ignorance)
Also the cost of similar hardware is always of greater expense over here so a direct exchange rate comparison is not indicative of the true prices.

cheers

Get a built-on Asus model and make it yourself with Ebay parts. I used an Asus 71v chassis a while ago to build my mobile setup and saved a bundle. I'm not sure what Asus has around now but the chassis I got came with an nvidia 6600 which still plays CS:S reasonably well. Also if you choose an old 700 series PM (400 Mhz fsb) chip they easily overclock by 33% using an FSB toggle. Most Asus models that support 533 FSB Dothans have then as do Dell 9300's and some other models. My 1.7 Ghz Pm is currently running at 2.26 Ghz
