6800XT PCI-E or 6600GT PCI-E?

Thread Starter
greetings!

i was wondering what is the better choice out of those 2 cards?

i've read that 6800XT PCI-E cannot be unlocked, so is maybe 6600GT PCI-E a better choice? (although it too has only 8 pipelines)

thnx in advance!

I would take the 6600GT because it has much higer clocks than that, and because the 6800XT can't unlock being a PCIe card. Go with the 6600GT

Btw, welcome to oc.net!

Like said above the 6600GT has alot higher clocks than the 6800XT i reckon the XT was just more of a budget 6800.

go for the 6600GT

also you said you had a choice of makes

go with XFX if you can, they seem to be the most overclocked from standard, gainward are also very similar

My 6800 XT overclocked to darn near the speeds of my 6800 GT OC stock speed. Not bad at all. Have a look at the 3d mark scores I got http://service.futuremark.com/compare?2k3=4674443 I got just over 10000 k on my stock speed GT OC, and 12800 overclocked. Not sure what a 6600GT can do as I have never owned one. Anyone have some comparisions.

Go for the 6800XT. Memory interface is 256-bit as opposed to 128-bit for the 6600GT. There's one on NewEgg for $99 after rebates, PCIe.
