The final update has been posted.

Everyone who participated should receive a PM. The winners will be officially announced this Friday at 6:00PM EST.

If I have not received a PM back, I'll assume your score is correct unless someone else notes an error.

This competition focuses on Super Pi 1M and 32M.

It will last from Friday July 16th until Sunday August 1st.

The rules are simple. Bench Super Pi Mod 1M and 32M and post your scores here. At the end of the competition, points will be tallied for each test, so you better submit in both! There will be an AMD category and an Intel category. There is no limit on cooling as I'd love to get some more people into extreme cooling.

Be sure to use Super Pi Mod 1.5! It can be downloaded here!

UPDATE:

Mushkin donated prizes!

There will be 7 in total: first, second, and third for Intel and AMD based systems as well as a secret prize which will be unveiled at the end of the competition! Check out my announcement post here.
  • First place: Mushkin 8GB flash drive and Mushkin t-shirt and hat!
  • Second place: Mushkin t-shirt, hat, and OCN Appliqué! (Appliqué courtesy of OCN's Case Mod Editor Repo_Man)
  • Third place: Mushkin t-shirt and hat!

This is how the points are laid out:
  • 1st Place - 10 points
  • 2nd Place - 8 points
  • 3rd Place - 5 points
  • 4th Place - 2 points
  • 5th Place - 1 point

But wait! 3 BONUS points per test for submitting your scores on OCN's HWBot team! That means that if you come in second and submit your score for OCN and the winner did not... you win!

The person with the most amount of points in each section (Intel/AMD) wins! By this I mean there is one AMD winner and one Intel winner. Feel free to submit for both Intel and AMD, but be aware you can only claim one prize. If you have more than 20 points on HWBot before this event begins Friday, you are ineligible for the prize! You can still win, but the goal of this is to get new people benching.

To enter, post in this thread with your time(s) and screen shot(s). Follow standard HWBot rules for screen shots with one addition: have an open note that says your OCN name and "Bassplayer's Pi Comp!"

Follow the example screen shot below (excuse the terrible time... 24/7 settings and unstripped OS):

Here are a few tips and tricks that I like to use:

  • Close every unneeded program. Run only Super Pi.
  • End the "Themes" service from the Task Manager.
  • Explore the Services list in Task Manager and close everything else unnecessary.
  • Try different operating systems. I score better with Windows 7 but many people do better with XP.
  • Remember, your computer does not need to be stable to run Super Pi as it only runs on one core. Clock as high as you can go.
  • From my experience, Super Pi tends to like high memory frequencies with decent timings. For instance, 1750 7-7-7 20 1T or 2000 8-8-8 24 1T (for i7 users) are what I try to run it at (my memory is pretty strong, don't be surprised if you cannot get these speeds with the same timings).
  • Run both 1M and 32M multiple times with the task manager open. Usually, one core is stronger than the others. When this one comes up you will see its activity spike in the Performance window. Note which core this is and then set the affinity to this core from there out. To set the affinity, open up Task Manager and click on Applications. Right click on Super Pi and click "Go to process". Click on this process and choose "Set Affinity". From here, you can choose which core to run it on.
  • If you can't get above 220/221 BCLK on 1366, try bumping your PCI-E up a bit. If you're not on a dedicated OS for benching (nothing important on it) try to keep it below ~107 to avoid corrupting it.

Once again, I'd like to give a huge thank you to OCN's Mushkin hardware rep Nick Soutouras for responding my request so quickly and going above and beyond what I asked from him! Check out Mushkin Enhanced at http://www.mushkin.com. If you're looking for a set of memory or just looking to upgrade, seriously consider Mushkin memory. I've never seen a manufacturer so dedicated to making sure its product is perfect and its customers all have a pie whenever they want. Okay, so maybe they don't give you pie, but they are very helpful!

OCN Appliqués are courtesy of OCN's own Repo_Man. Drop by his build log and tell him he smells funny or something!

To those of you that submitted early, whether it be your fault or mine, I will count your scores as long as you are still eligible with the appended rules. Even if you are not eligible for the prizes, I urge you to submit for the fun of it!

Oh lol, my bad
Well, at least I have some time to strip an os, install it on the fastest hd I have and oc this cpu

btw, are you thinking about classes too?
would be a bit hard to beat all the i7's with phenoms I guess

I'll give the 32m a try tomorrow, with the 1m and a better oc, at least if I can get it bootable.

Any limit on hardware? IE: using one CPU for 1m, and another for 32m?
And the all important, any cooling restriction?

DDR2/ DDR3 isn't really a big deal considering the fact that spi isn't extremely memory limited and D9-based memory can hang with DDR3 in 32m.

Is this just overall fastest or is it split into sections like AMD section and Intel section?

But here is my score; http://hwbot.org/community/submissio...be_16sec_721ms

Bad I know compared to i7's but hey

Valid points guys. I'd like to keep this accessible but I'd also like people to submit some fresh scores under extreme cooling.

At this point, I only have two prizes to give away so I can only have two categories.

However, I am going to go change them up to have an Intel and an AMD competition.
