NEED HELP, New computer but OS doesn't load

Hi everyone, I recently put together a computer with the specs in my profile. When I installed Windows XP Pro I was at my friends house and we were using a 21" LCD monitor so the resolution must have been something around 2000,1800 and everything was working fine. I'm not sure if that has anything to do with it but when I came home I tried booting it up on a 15"lcd monitor and the POST loaded and then it went to the WINDOWS XP page with the small green loading bar and when it was done loading instead of going to the desktop the whole screen just went black and in red it says "OUT OF RANGE". I figured it was the resolution so I tried booting in safemode and changing it to 800x 600 but that didn't work and then I tried running in "Last configuration that worked" and that also didn't work so now I've run out of ideas. Please if you have ANY ideas it would help. thank youuuuuuu

1. Get back to the 21' and reset the screen to the lowest possible resolution.
2. Boot it up with the windows cd and see if that works.
3. Reinstall using the monitor your gunna use.

So what exactly did you do? besides trying to change the resolution? I wanna know if there's any other way because my friends doesn't live around here and i don't know when the next time I might go to his house. THanks
