Make it look sick. Have neon WC tubes going through crossbars hanging from the ceiling. The whole room will have this whole glow to it that would be sweet.

Idea No. 1: Dust control
If the house is central-conditioned, install additional HEPA filter to all ducts connected to the room. A separate Air Purifier should also be used.

Idea No.2: Electricity outlets
Make sure they are ample and strategically located, thus eliminating any need for extension power cord.

Idea No.3: Green
If you use geothermal cooling, consider installing a few solar panels on rooftop to provide energy for the system (at least to the pump). The PC can be used to control/monitor the status of the solar power circuit. It is so cool, is it not?

I'd get a huge bong cooler over a geothermal loop because it's easier to manage and should prove better temperatures year round (think sub-ambient). If you AC the room it'd be even better.

What size of a room?

i have a 14 x 16 room with a window a/c unit and my ambient temps are 16.6c with the unit on low.

if a window a/c unit isn't an option i think these 2 items are needed for sure..

To those suggesting geothermal cooling, someone did it here not too long ago.
I remember reading about it when I first joined (thought the guy was crazy...) and that was about a year ago. Let me see if I can find it.

EDIT: Got it. http://www.overclock.net/cooling-exp...l-cooling.html
Seems to have set him back a fair amount of money, but he says it's working perfectly.
This may be the type of mod you're looking for.

I don't think we should be telling him to run his AC Unit 24/7 or I'm pretty sure we will see a post like this..

Quote:
Hi all at Overclock.net my name is _______, and I am.. or was KOBALT's wife. I recently received our power bill and was outraged at the charges, assuming it was a mistake I called the company and they ensured me it was correct, I then followed up with KOBALT who seemed fairly uncertain of what it could be.. then shyly stated it could be the AC Unit in his man cave. I asked why it would be costing so much and he mentioned that it was "modded" to be running 24/7 to cool his personal computer. I promptly chopped off his head with my longest kitchen knife and am now searching your database for the genius that gave my husband the idea.

You have been warned.

1. Have a baffled air vent similar to a clothes dryer that feeds outside. October through March you will have a great, quiet, cold air source that will probably let you run your overclocked computer fanless (or you could add a fan to the vent).
2. Assuming a 10 or 12 foot square room, layout should probably be a desk the entire length of one wall, and a couch in the rear for movie watching.
3. Make sure there are lots of electrical outlets installed.
4. A window is nice, but if no window use a lot of egg foam padding for good acoustics.
5. Have multiple light switches for different lighting mood's in your room- one with standard or ~6000K red tint bulbs, and one with ~3500K greenish tint bulbs. The green bulbs will make you think it is daytime.
6. Have a small hallway sized room behind your room where your computer can be stored. This way your room could only have monitor/keyboard/mouse if desired.
7. Water cool your computer, but instead of a radiator have the tubes coil through a built-into-the-wall fish aquarium or other places in the room it could decorate. You will likely need a big pump in a soundproof box, preferably in another room.

Some things that I have in my computer room that I'd suggest:

1)Air purifier (keeps dust down)
2)Remote control fan
3)Water fountain (sound is so relaxing)
4)Trees (mine are fake)
