Thread Starter
Ok, so I got a $25 itunes gift card, signed up, downloaded some music and I find out that I can't find it on the hard drvie, its copy protected or some s**t so I can't convert it to mp3 / burn it as a mp3 cd. Can someone point me to some software where I can extract the music from itunes & convert it to mp3. Thanks in advance!

I'm using tunebite to do it. It plays the music at 2x speed in iTunes and converts it to mp3. It takes a little while but it gets the job done.

i believe it puts music you buy in a different folder in the "itunes" directory - i don't have any right now but i remember my roommate bought some music and i found it in a separate folder and was able to put it on my computer

the catch:
you can only put itunes music on 5 computers - and you have to have an internet connection so you can put in your apple password to activate it. once you activated each song 5 times you can't put it on anything else.

and i think if you burn an audio cd with it, it puts a file on there to let itunes know that it isn't just an audio cd, so you can't re-rip it.

itunes music store blows

jhymn will convert your intunes bought songs to mp3 and remove the drm from the songs.

Note that this software isn't designed for aiding piracy, to stay on the safe side here.

that's what i always do. Burn the .m4p files (format iTunes uses) as an audio CD, using iTunes. Then just rip the CD back to your computer. You can even use iTunes again to do it. Just make sure you have it set to .mp3 in the advanced settings. Pretty easy really.

Yeah i don't like that about iTunes, but I really do think it's the best jukebox software out there. I woulnd't use anything else.

heh, I hate itunes music store, once you buy the song, it should be yours to do whatever you want with, winamp and a creative mp3 player is the best way to go IMO
