At the main Windows Movie Maker screen, on the side, where it says "3. Finish Movie", there should be an option under it that says "Save to my computer." Click that, name the file and choose the folder it will be saved to. Click next.

Depending on what you're doing with the movie, you'll have to choose the quality settings. I always choose the best quality, but you might have some reason to choose something else.

After that, click next and it will start saving to your computer. If you have any problems, post here, but if I dont respond, PM me or whatever you do on this forum.

I'm pretty sure Movie Maker only saves as .wmv file, not .avi

edit: I was wrong, there is only 1 option for .avi. DV-AVI: It's for resolution 720X480, 30Mps bit rate. 4:3, 30fps.
