Old HP - recovery and still messed up

Thread Starter
my other computer-a 1999 model hp- needed a system restore. i restored it but it still isnt fixxed. i deleted internet explorer because it wasnt hooked to the net(i know) and after that it came up with (internet explorer has done somthing illegal" or something to that effect every time i opened a window. after restore it still does that. im doing a disk check on it now but it wont go past 85% will i need to do a full restore or will that not work fully? beyond that i dont know but i need to install drivers for it so i can use an external hd to get my stuff off. what are the drivers i need? if i plug in a jump drive it doesnt reconize it.

If this is a w2k or Xp system and formatted NTFS you will have a hard time derermining bad sectors on the hard drive as NTFS disregards the bad sector. One fix is to format to win 95 as the erlier os will pick up bad sectors and mark them as bad. then use your recovery cd and format ntfs it will see these bad sectors then.

Hope this helps.

Do a system restore and do not remove anything.
