im assuming your RAM voltage is at 2.6 so try it at 2.7 or 2.8 and see what that does for you. Go to user cp on the forums and put your system specs in so that might help us too.

After adjusting it to 2.7 with 230 FSB it still crashed but I was able to boot (as I'm here right now) with 2.8 and 3x HTT so I'm up to 2.3 gighz. What do you suggest I try next?

If you upped your RAM voltages and that allowed to you to boot ok then im assuming that maybe it was your RAM holding you back. One gig sticks of RAM dont seem to like to be overclocked as high as 2x512 sticks but its good RAM nonetheless. I saw your CPUs thumbs and it looked fine. I just cant see anything else that is causing you this problem that a RAM divider wouldnt help, just take your mem out of the factors of limiting your FSB. Will it just not boot with a x4 HTT? You usually dont lower it to x3 unless you are over 250. Lets see if anyone else can give some input and think of something im missing

I almost always lower my multi to 3x instead of 4x...it's just more stable that way.

Try a slight divider. 180 should do it for now. Just to see if that'll make a difference.

Thanks Hednik. I didn't post it properly in my profile but I do have 2x512 of the OCZ Plat rev 2 ram. I've heard nothing but great reviews on this ram so I really can't see how it's limiting itself on this one. I'll try 4x right now and see if I can push it any farther. Should I try tweaking my memory timings based off the image I posted? Thanks again man, you've been a great help thusfar!

Yeah makes no sense to me either because its awesome RAM. You could tweak the mem timings if you really want to. It could make a difference. I went to OCZ site and this looks to be your RAM.

http://www.ocztechnology.com/product...num_revision_2

it says 2-2-2-5 timings so give it a shot at that. Notice the voltage too, it says 2.9 so that might be what it runs best at as it says 2.75 stock. Ive just never seen a Venice 3200+ that was this fussy about raising the FSB. Everything you have it awesome and should work. Try the 180 divider liek Sideburns mentioned. MY mobo doesnt have the 180 option but DFI does so if it helps because at that speed and the FSB near 240 I cant see you having any probs pushing further.

Well keep it at 1:1 (200)...now try and change your timings to 2-3-3-6. If that doesn't work...try 2.5-4-3-6...that should get you a little farther on the ram front.

Ugh, this thing is damn fussy alright. I tried upping it to 235 and it was a no go, tried setting it back to 230 at x3 and x4 and it'd always crash as soon as I'd see the logon screen. I really can't see the timings being the huge issue of this, there's got to be some kind of setting that I'm not touching that's causing this poor luck of mine.

I spent so much time researching on the top components for overclocking back when I got this rig. It's very depressing to see such poor results with what I know it's capable of.

Back to experimenting I suppose. I'll keep checking these to see if anyone comes up with a similar situation/suggestion. Thanks

Hmm now I'm starting to confuse myself. I was able to boot off 235 now, but the reasoning isn't quite there. I turned the ratio from 166 to 200 and now it seems to be booting.

The other factor, however, is that I adjusted the Chipset voltage from 1.5 to 1.6 (the VID is at 1.525). Have I been misreading things? I didn't think the chipset voltage would need to be adjusted and just the VID voltage. I wish I had a way to grab some pictures of my BIOS, I'll start charging my camera right now. I'm going to take a stab at 140 with hopeful results now, thanks guys.

EDIT:
humph, 240 is booting now too...I don't get it. Was it the lack of having the chipset voltage at 1.6 causing this one? How high can I push the chipset voltage safely?

Its always a possiblity. There's no chip is exactly the same as another. Maybe 1.6 is the voltage that your chip likes and if it does as long as you keep a eye on your temps and they stay belwo 55 load you should be great. Keep us posted.
