The EE Conroe is gonna be at 3.33GHz. Thats gonna be like 6.67GHz P4 speeds. Just imagine it overclocked...

My Prescott officially sucks now
Very nice!

Yes, but I like good video cards because my monitor supports 1600x1200 resolution (which I like) and I also like games actually having details.

I'm sure they workin their asses off to get something to beat the conroe. It will probably be awhile, but amd will deffinitely come out with something nice. And they'll kinda have to follow intel's lead on the pricing, or they'll sell very few. I like the price wars even more than the performance wars !

Nawww dude. Can you game well? Can you do everything you want and pretty fast? I'm guessing yes, so your rig don't suck man . I don't know what you do on your pc, but a newer one won't make a cd or dvd burn faster, although it would encode one faster some, depends if you even care. It won't make your HDD defrag really any faster. It won't make surfing the net really any faster. It won't make checking your email faster. It may make games better, but the gpu means more anyway. I could go on but you get the point. There are soooo many bottlenecks in a pc for different things, I personally think people put too much importance on having the latest greatest cpu. For most things you can even possibly do on a pc, it doesn't matter that much. I don't care what any fanboy thinks, my pressy at about 4ghz is awesome, and fast as I could want for now.

I know you're not offending but my point was that: Performance for Price.

You critized those with 1K $$$ CPUs, yet you have a HDD that cost twice as much that of an 80GB but for what? Performance.

I don't think that 1K CPUs are worth it but the same goes for $150, 74GB HDD. I think most people look to replace an old/slow CPU for a faster one than thinking in going from 7,200rpm HDD to 10K-rpm.

BTW, since when mark-ups are a main concern? If a $1K CPU can perform better than a $500, people will still buy them disregarding what the mark-up is.

Would anyone make their own clothing if they new that the mark-up is 300 to 500% and sometimes above the 1000% mark?

Has anyone ever been at a restaurant and get a drink? Coke $1.69, you know how much they paid for that 8 ounces the pour in your glass? 10 cents.

Not a relative point to be concerned on mark-ups.
That's why Tea comes in different flavors.

Oh I completely understand your point. I think maybe you missed mine though. I never said anything that I was against spending some extra for better performance, which btw a 10k (especially raptor with it's faster access times) drive gives you faster boot time, faster defrag, faster anything to do with hdd, regardless of cpu, which to me is worth it. Especially when you have two raid 0's. Try copying say 10GB between two raid0's, then try that same 10GB between two single drives, even if they're 10k ones. The raid wins by a huge margin. To me, that's worth more than a cpu that won't make hardly anything I do really any faster.

My point I guess was, ya I spent some more to have a good hdd setup, I didn't spend 1000+ dollars. That's the difference. I like performance too, I'm just not gonna stop paying all my bills and eat mac & cheese to have a little more for 1/5 of what I do on a pc. And I'm not criticizing anyone for spending whatever they want, I just think they're a little nuts that's all . Anyway back on topic, gooooo conroe you rock!!

AMD still hasnt released to much on it. Who knows what revisions have brought? It could be based off the A64 architecture with alot of tweeks to it, like improved efficency, alot lower volts, ect ect. Lotsa stuff can go under a "revision" really.

Now that AMD and Intel will be on similar architectures, I think we will be back to splitting hairs on performance differences.

You are not taking into account that different people generate different incomes. For some people $100.00 is a lot of money and for other people that $100.00 has to be $1000.00 to be a lot of money so ad infinitum for some is ad nauseum for others.

Thus one can not in truth say other's waste money when they do not know the other's state of income generation. If I spend $25,000.00 for my son's first car it is a fair chunk of change to me truth be known. However, my boss has just bought his son a $50,000.00 car for graduating with honors. That's a bit much for me but not for him.

See? It depends on how much funds one is able to generate for the expenditure to be a waste. My spending is wasteful only if I am not able to easily afford what I purchase for entertainment. Other's can outspend me easily for entertainment purposes which for me would be wasteful if I spent their amount and let what really matters in funding slip by me. I need to spend a certain amount to charity and yes, that is a need. If I were to bypass that personal need to purchase greater personal entertainment devices then I would certainly (in my case) be wasteful. It is a personal thing and this is my personal view at any rate.
