Either you're playing in relatively small servers, or you are a miracle because people with 7 series cards and very fast CPUs still get lag for at least 15 seconds at the start of maps when textures is on high with 1gig of ram. Its possible to run textures on high with 1gig of ram, but you have to turn some eyecandy off like you did for it to work properly. Try fully maxing the game out and then see the slideshow at the beginning. If the starting lagfest doesnt bother you, go for it. I just like to be able to run around right off the bat!

I have just bought Battlefield 2, and as i opened the manual, was pleased to see an advert for my GPU on the front page! I thought great! im sorted!

But no... haha

i have an Intel Celeron 2.66 clocked at 2.96 at the moment, and the game doesnt half run laggy, im sure its CPU lag because i can change the details from Low to High and still not get a change in the Lag.

Would it be worth buying a new 3.0 P4 478? I think i could clock a 3.0 at 3.4 or 3.5 with my cooling. but i just wondered what you guys thought.

Cheers
Andy

In console type renderer.drawfps 1 - it will show you in red text on the top left of your screen what your frames are

If you are talking about multiplayer that is because punkbuster verifys for about the first 10 secs, if you are joining mid game it isn't that bad but if you are starting a new map on a full server then everybodys verification kind lags for a bit - it is fixable with more ram and/or a faster cpu.

Hope all this helps

Man, i'm telling if you get another gig of ram. It should resolve your issue.

I am so glad i did it. Running ultra speeds on V/C and running smooth as butter.
