Google Driver cleaner Pro. Uninstall the old drivers via the Control panel, reboot into safe mode. run Driver Cleaner Pro, reboot, install new drivers.

Care to enlighten the n00b?

I changed drivers to 8.3.9.1. which are digitally signed (came on the driver CD) and my 3DMark score improved to just 7161. Futuremark still does not approve the drivers, and will not let me publish. The test itself nearly crashed, so something may, indeed, be very very wrong, or there may be problems with the drivers themselves, at this point, which some of the reviews are also claiming.

BTW... These cards are very quiet... I can't tell a noticable difference in case fan noise since I installed them...

honestly i've never had a problem with drivers as long as i uninstalled the old drivers, rebooted, installed new drivers, rebooted. some people swear by driver cleaners though.

sweet, that's what i wanted to hear. a quieter version from the previous generation. i'm curious though, do you consider the noise from your fans loud? when i have my panaflow fans down at half i could barely hear them, and i think my loudest fan is coming from my 7800GT with my power supply not far behind it.

Is this a new system with all fresh drivers? Do you have you mobo drivers installed? Is your bios set right for sli? Is the 4-pin molex plugged in to the board by the gpu's? Also you may want to try pulling one card out, uninstall all the drivers, clean out the old ones, reinstall new drivers w/ only one card in, bench it, install the second card ,set bios for sli, install divers for second card, turn on sli and bench again.

I just now turned up my case fans to see if I could get a bit lower on my idle temp (which is now 38c)... And yes I definitely notice the noise from the case fans, but the card fans are simply not a factor...

Seems like, no matter what I do, the second graphics test (the fairie forest) freezes on me. I am going to clean out the drivers and reinstall the newest betas from the nvidia site, and test it once more...

I would uninstall all drivers and any programs that you don't need and then reinstall everything you want to with the latest compatible releases. You should then get a better score. If not, then see if other people with 7900GTX's have that kind of score. Oh, and see in-game performance to make sure they're working right.

Ohhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh K!

Now...

Having cleaned out the old drivers and installed the betas... I ran 3dMark06 Basic, and for the first time, it didn't freeze up on any of the GPU tests.

Score = 8509

Would that be considered acceptable?
