Friend's Budget Gaming Build

Thread Starter
Hey guys,

My friend is looking for a budget gaming build to take home with him to Canada and he can only apparently take CA$750 worth of computer parts over the border with him. Obviously he will not be able to fit his case inside of his suitcase so he is planning on buying that in Canada... So basically I need the best build possible that includes the following for US$700

-Quad Core CPU
-Motherboard
-4GB Memory
-DirectX 11 Compatible Graphics Card
-500GB Hard Drive
-DVD Burner
-Power Supply
-After Market CPU Cooler

And then can you please suggest a good case for this computer (the case is not included in the US$700 budget limit for the components listed above).....

My friend is going to mainly be using this computer for gaming, however I do know that he does do a LOT of map editing using Hammer Editor and he constantly complains to me about how slow his laptop is at compiling all of the maps. The games that he plays are the following

-WoW
-Just Cause 2
-GTAIV
-Dirt 2
-L4D
-CS:S
-TF2

Any help is extremely appreciated

You cannot bring any computer worth more than $750 across the Canadian border?

I'd assume something to do with import tax?

So if I were to move to Canada, I'd have to pay a tax on every single thing that I own?

My clothes, my furniture, my electronics, food, pets?

Aren't warranties void after you bring something across the border? I asked my cousin to buy me an i7-930 at Microcenter when she came to visit but she said the warranty would be voided so I decided against it.

Sorry for getting way off topic here.

try this.

it's $10 over, but that $10 gets you a crossfire capable board, so at least he'll be able to add another 5770 soon. i wanted to put a GTX 460 1gb but i wasn't able to put one in as i couldn't find out how to make it work. i hope that helps, nevertheless...
