So half of my monitor is black i think the back light is on but there is nothing showing.

Its a acer GD245HQ the 3D one

Here is a print screen.

And here is a Photo.

The acer badge when powering the monitor on is in half too.

Thanks

~DeadMau5

Edit: The resolution is 1920x1080 but the same problem with all resolutions.

Edit 2: Yeah is dead my other monitor with the same resolution works perfectly.

Sorry for the bad news but it is broken, no doubt about it. Good luck with the RMA!

actually i was just reading about this issue, try unplugging it for the usual 10-15 seconds, like a router. this is supposedly going to "reset" the panel and fix your issue! hope it works.

If you're the real Deadmau5, I love you. Free T shirt plz

Try using the other connector on your video card 9if there are two), if not, you could unplug it, then replug it.

If that doesn't work, RMAing it is the last thing I can think of.

EDIT: just realized he posted yesterday. damnnnnnnnnnnnnnnn

Alright guys, I googled this issue and found here, saves making a new topic I thought Id bump this one

I just turned my computer on, went down stairs to make a brew as ya do, came back to the windows login screen and noticed half of my screen the right hand side (like the guys picture above) and I instantly paniced

Turned it off and back on again and it was alright but it just bothers me, why would it do that? Is it an early sign of a early death to the monitor or what

Because even from day 1 when I got this monitor, when I view certain websites, I think its to do with the colours displayed or something.. like if a website has lots of dark colours, the monitor will make a high pitched sound.. as soon as I minimize that website it will stop, its weird. I sent it to Acer repairs for inspection and they said nothing was wrong with it, got it back and it still does it.

So theres that issue, and just now I got the half black screen issue..

Should I be worried? Its strange!

Relax. Takes time for someone to stumble upon this.

I haven't had such a problem, mainly because screen is one of the lowest priorities on my list.

Don't get me wrong, a screen matters to me, but I don't buy screens as often as I buy other hardware. My 19" BenQ is working fine, has been for the past 5 years and will stay like this until it dies or I have a need for another screen.

Yesterday my Acer GD245HQ had the same problem!

Half the screen went completely black/dead. Only "ac" in "acer" was visible during start up. It was still black even after being unplugged for a while. I requested RMA, and of course, they approved it.

Today it works again. Weird. It still makes a very annoying sound at 120 Hz though.
