New AMD Build

Thread Starter
Is there any way I could improve or anything wrong with it?

Case: CM Storm Scout
Processor: AMD Phenom II X2 Dual Core 555 3.20GHz Black Edition
RAM: 2xCrucial 2GB DDR3 1333MHz/PC3-10600 Memory CL9 1.5V
Mobo: Asus M4A785TD-V EVO
HDD: 1TB Samsung F3
CPU Cooler: Coolermaster Hyper TX3

I already have a monitor and windows 7.

the CPU cooler you have chosen isnt the greatest, and if you can scrape um the extra bit more money youd be far better off with 1600mhz DDR3 Ram, allow for much higher overclocking. http://www.zalman.co.kr/ENG/product/...ad.asp?idx=164 for a cooler id recommend one of these, i have one and they are great, kept my Q9400 under 65*C at the settings currently in my sig, which isnt far from what my water loop is giving me, there is also a black nickel coated one if you dont like the copper look. but itll out perform that Coolermaster one, and these are much more silent.

Edit: Also, the Phenom II 555BE is really a 955BE but with 2 cores disabled, youd really get the most out of that chip with a board allowing core unlocking so you have the chance of ending up with a quad core.

i'd swap the cooler to a Hyper 212+.

also, the CM storm socut is pretty expensive - unless you're set on it i'd consider a cheaper case and plow the extra funds into something more powerful, ie faster CPU or something.

hmm, no, stick the extra money into a better motherboard, that can unlock the cores. your right tho, the CM Storm is on the dear side, there are cheaper cases with the same features for much less like the Themaltake V9 black edition. they about $150AU so $100US bouts. but really, the only things id recommend you change is a better board and faster rated ram, even if you go a slightly cheaper brand. also a better board will overclock better and run less risk of failing

Anyways, get the 212+ for a cooler.

http://www.jr.com/cooler-master/pe/CM_RRB10212PGP/

And you want C7 not C9 especially for 1333MHz RAM.

The board I've chosen does have core unlocking abilities.

Changed the RAM to the Ballistix that Confessed suggested.

One of my friends has said that he'll sell me his HAF X and Corsair HX1000 for £50 (about $75) so I'll buy them.

Case: HAF X
PSU: Corsair 1000W HX PSU
Processor: AMD Phenom II X2 Dual Core 555 3.20GHz Black Edition
RAM: Crucial 4GB (2x2GB) DDR3 1333MHz/PC3-10600 Ballistix Memory Kit CL7 (7-7-7-24) 1.65V
Mobo: Asus M4A785TD-V EVO
HDD: 1TB Samsung F3
CPU Cooler: Coolermaster Hyper 212+

I hope you plan on getting a vidya card with that.

Off the top of my head I'd recommend the GTX 460 to anybody.

I'm waiting for the Bulldozer to come out. I'm getting £500 next year so I'll get a Bulldozer CPU and new Mobo. I heard that the Bulldozer had intergrated graphics.
To my knowledge bulldozer will not have a integrated graphics core. That would be AMDs fusion chips comming out later this year early next. hopefully u can unlock some cores on ur 555 thou!
