need some help on drivers oc and bmarks

Thread Starter
Dear frens, my request is a bit long but please dont get bored reading it. Any suggestions will be most welcome. I will acknowledge my results.

My system specs are on the bottom of this page.

1) what is th difference between the nforce4 AMD platform driver and the other AMD/INTEL X16 driver?

2)My A64 3500+ (manchester) 2.2 GHZ is OCed to 2.5 GHZ thru the bios and clockgen . Do i need 2 adjust any voltage, FSB etc etc settings? (am noob in OCing !!)

3) what GPU and CPU tempetature is ok for BFG 7800GT OC (OCed to 500/1150) Is it too high? Should i go to 450/1100? Please look in my system specs for hardware info.

4?is it ok to put my case (with the right panel removed ie motherboad backsite) directly on the airflow of my Room airconditioner (16 degree C) or am i harming my rig withj iths type of cooling??

5) when i run CPU benchmarks during 3dmark05 pro and 3Dmark06 pro
my rig crawls at only 0,1,2 fps. is it normal?

6) N just 1 more thing i ve posted my benchmarks below. what do u think of the results? Normal? High? or Low?
do post ur benchmarks also. i would love to see them !!

And ive got US $200 to spend! what upgrades do u recommend 4 my rig??

1) Forget about this question.
2)Yes.
3)80'c and you find out if its too high.
4)No your not.
5)Yes.. Theres no point in doing it other than to stress your system.
6)Normal

Get another gig of ram.

If your system is stable, then you don't need to raise any voltages or change any settings.

Keep the cpu under 55 C full load (50 is more preferred), gpu will artifact if it's overheating, but 60 C is ok. (can go higher without harm, but shouldn't be necessary)

AC blowing into your case is only harmful if it's moist enough air to cause condensation on the parts.

Yes, 3DMark05 and 06 can turn into almost a slideshow. (the cpu part)

Your benchmarks look fine.

Hello and welcome.

1) Don't hehe

2) I've got the same processor so if your acts like mine then you wont need to adjust the voltage until it around 245 FSB or 2.69ghz. Thats when I had to bump it up to 1.425. Voltage is what makes the heat not so much th overclocking in itself.

3) Keep the PC around 50c loads temps and lets say 42-44 idle temps and you'll be great. Like sccr4472 said 60c for your temp on your GPU is a great place to be. 500/1150 is just fine and if you can temps great I bet you could get a little more out of it if you like. Just go to your display settings and click on advanced then click on the tab that says 7800gt. THere will be the options to manual overclock your card. Select this then click "detect optimal frequencies". Run a 3D benchmark and see how she does. IF you get flickers on the screen during it then back it down a bit.

4) Like they said dont suggest the AC near you comp just because you never know about condensation, but if it close and the PC is closed pu then I don't think it would matter. Just not right next to it. It says you are in India, what are the temps around there? Its a big country so I bet the climates vary alot.

5) Great scores you have there . Im running a 6800gs so you beat me by far. Yes the FPS will really slow down on 3dmark05 and 06, just because they are meant to stress you CPU and see what it can do. 06 Especially.

As far as upgrades go like they said and get another stick of RAM and maybe a nice Heatsink/Fan but other than that looking great. GL to you
