[Official] nVidia Surround - Page 115

Just in case any of you missed it, TweakTown readied their review early as they apparently got sent a card without having to sign an NDA.

http://www.tweaktown.com/reviews/4622/nvidia_geforce_gtx_680_kepler_2gb_reference_card_video_card_review/index1.html

This card does look impressive.

Time will tell how well 2GB of VRAM copes with Surround, though - especially since a pair of these cards would appear to have the raw grunt necessary to power 5760x1200 and turn AA/AF up quite a way.

...

There is one nasty, though; I was hoping to be able to go 7680x1440 (triple Dell U2711) on a system rebuild in the summer, and if the Surround-off-one-GPU stops the Surround-off-multi-cards... I'm stuffed there. One dual-link DVI, one single link DVI (thus, maximum 1920x1200)... one HDMI (presumably max 1920x1200) and one DisplayPort 1.2... I'll have to hope that two monitors off one card and one off the second still works, and go SLI. That is, of course, presuming that a 4GB flavour comes out. *sigh*

Do you guys think the 680 will be able to handle surround on a single card in BF3 if you dial the settings back? Personally I find Ultra pointless because I can't really tell the difference.

Ultra seems to be the system killer setting, the lower settings much less so. For that, I'd guess it'd be OK, although others who play it should chime in here! wink.gif I'm still trying to avoid Origin, but a couple of my friends that used to play BFBC2 with me now only play BF3, so I'm weakening...

Lol come to the dark side! It truly is an amazing game. I can't wait to see BF4 when the engine is even more polished!

I don't remember if I made a submission for this or not, but I have updated pics anyway. I was reading through and was happy to find some decent answers regarding the bf3 GPU usage problems. I have been living with it at 6040x1080. My fps normally drops to about 35 at the lowest only in some areas.

it is quite bothersome when you know more juice can be squeezed out of the cards and it isn't being dragged to 60. I will have to try disabling aero just for that game. I forget how to do it for one program (I think compatibility mode) but I will figure it out.

I will also try the quick tweaks to the NVCP as well as the bf3 fxaa mod that was shown. I will definitely be linking my TS buddies to this stuff.

I will make a post later hopefully with some pictures, since I still have yet to post up in another thread with my new cooler. I should have time to do it.

Quick question, I know skyrim 1.5 just came out, and the last patch broke triple monitor play. Since I am at work I can not look it up. Does the widescreenfixer with the skyrim fix still work with this new patch? I just got it recently because they had just fixed the 1.4 patch. I would be upset if they broke triple monitors again.

Right click the shortcut (or the program .exe, whichever) and go to the Compatibility tab, and tick "Disable Desktop Composition". smile.gif

Reading the Hardware Canucks review of the GTX680 - nVidia have basically fixed most of the complaints I had with Surround. It's nice to know they listened, although it would have liked some hints. wink.gif

It would be nice if they could release those surround features in the 500 series drivers. I am purposely waiting for the 700 or later series, to

1. save up some cash for it since I'll build a completely new system

2. let them work the kinks out with these cards as well as the die shrink, and let pci 3 settle in.

The 700 series should be a massive increase compared to the 500 series. This series just isn't worth it right now.

It appears as if an .inf edit allows GTX5x0 cards to use those drivers; from a screenshot I've seen on the widescreengamingforum the centred taskbar etc is working, too.

Yeah I saw that in another post. I was considering it, but it seems like features they will release eventually in an official driver.

Considering the 680 competes with a 590, i would say yes...
