I have not tried it yet, but it looks like the 301.24 beta drivers do allow the accessory display to work in all Surround capable GPU's thumb.gif:

I can confirm later tonight by hooking up my fourth monitor. smile.gif

Just tried it, and it didn't work for me. frown.gif

I don't know if the same monitor rules for Surround apply to the fourth (ie. same resolution, polarity sync, etc.), but it would not work unless I chose to "Activate all displays". My fourth monitor is an Achieva Shimian 27", which is drastically different than the NEC's I have in Surround. If anybody has four of the same monitors, I would be interested in knowing if it works on older GPU's, or if in fact this is a 680 only feature. redface.gif

If I could get my hands on another U2410 (even for just a couple of days) I'd test it out myself on GTX460s and GTX470s. As it is, however, my 'fourth' monitor is 1080p, while my Surround system is triple 1200p.

I suspect it's a 680 only feature, to be honest. They've made some fairly large changes in the hardware side of things to get single-card Surround working, and while the first release of Surround is still supported, I wouldn't be surprised to see nVidia drop support for 200/400/500 series Surround in a future driver. Hopefully that's a long way off, though - to the point where it won't matter, because there'll be a couple of generations of cards supporting single-card Surround.

thanks for trying that for me. I have plans to get a 680 but not quite yet (waiting for next version)

301.24 does look promising but not very effective for older gen cards...

I think you're right. It does look more and more like a 680 only feature. frown.gif

I do appreciate the fact that Nvidia does tend to offer longer support for their legacy parts, so I agree it will be a long while before we have to worry about anything. thumb.gif

No problem. thumb.gif

I'm just happy that Nvidia *FINALLY* addressed the maximizing windows within each monitor AND keeping the task bar on the center monitor! wheee.gif We've only been requesting these features since Surround was first implemented. tongue.gif

Now if only somehow they can allow the Start Menu and task tray in the center, but still allow the task bar to span across the peripheral monitors, that would be amazing! biggrin.gif Although, I have a feeling something that advanced won't be available until Surround 3.0. frown.gif

I had recently upgraded my setup to include 3 monitors to run surround. After playing with it for a couple days, i was really annoyed by the lack of being able to maximize to each individual monitor. with the beta driver update, I'll be going back to running surround! So glad they got that sorted out. thumb.gif

Interesting. Thanks for sharing! thumb.gif

We'll have to keep an eye out over the next few driver releases to see what the outcome will be.

that's kinda a bummer, would have been cool to setup a 4th monitor to keep my misc widgets etc on.. guess we'll see if they change that in upcoming driver updates..
