The only work around for the crashed task bar is shutting down explorer and restarting it back up. I am using the drivers from May, I think. So, it should be 301.42. I also have issues with setting up 1 over 3 with my 690. It crashes every time I enter SLI Surrond Vision, it appears to be a great disliking of the mini-Display port.
I'll test out putting my Taskbar on my accessory screen to see what happens when I game/watch videos, but I may not have the same problems as I'm running DisplayFusion Pro to give me some more control over what happens with my Taskbar/wallpapers etc.

How are you hooking monitors up? I've got two DVI, one HDMI and one DisplayPort, with the DisPort being the accessory and the two DVI and one HDMI being the Surround monitors. Can't remember what connectors the 690 has, though.

Try 304.79 beta if you're wlling to use beta drivers. I've found them better than 301.42 for the most part.

I ran driver sweeper and reinstalled 301.xx wqhl and its working again. Btw, have you made sure to lock the taskbar? (obvious but sometimes overlooked wink.gif).
If all else fails, run driver sweeper and reinstall. I'm hearing the latest Beta is stable too.
You can set the Taskbar not to shrink to the middle in the nVidia Control Panel:

Sounds like you've got the same problems I've had with the 680. It's generally OK, but occasionally freaks out. Try 304.79 beta, as I mentioned a few posts ago, once I managed to get them installed they've been much better behaved than 301.42, which were terrible in my experience. 301.10 was better than .42!

Driver Sweeper is an official name, and while in the past I've had uses for it, it's caused me more grief than aid since going back to nVidia with my old 460s. frown.gif

One thing you could try is if the Taskbar is unlocked, try dragging it around the screen - that fixes it for me sometimes if it's decided to flake out and not work. Also note that the Windows key still apeears to work to open the Start Menu even if it's not reacting to the mouse.

Did the Surround gaming thread merge with the Surround club thread? Or just dropped for one club?

Anyways, just wanting to share how my three 560 ti 448s 1.2gb cards pushed through all of Crysis 2.0 in Surround (7 hour stint biggrin.gif). The fans do quick in ~60% @ 95% load but its not terribly loud. It looks like the extra hp of three cards with a slight bump in clocks are compensating for 1.2gb of vram. I'm averaging ~80-90fps with the lowest settings. I think the true test comes when I fire up Metro 2033 redface.gif. First, I need to finish the British campaign in CoD 2 thumb.gif

I've noticed Surround doesn't usually hit VRAM too badly if you run lowest settings. It's when the textures start to get large and detailed that VRAM usage skyrockets. wink.gif

And yes, staryoshi merged the threads; just makes everyones lives that little bit easier if we've only got one thread to follow. wink.gif

I'm going to ante up the settings later this week to see how they do with more work. Metro should be the torture one. I couldn't max it out with three 580 3gbs

Hey guys

I am just moving my computer around and realized that when I originally set it up I had just put my monitors in a random configuration.

My question is this:
Are there any guide lines to setting up surround gaming, as in, suggested measurements /angles?

Current components: 3x 23" dell LCD in landscape
1x GTX680 4gb
+ A ridiculous amount of desk room

Thanks in advance guys

There aren't really any suggestions on angles etc. I just go with "what feels right" - which may well be different for you. wink.gif

Sounds like you are pretty new to arma. Just how it has always run.
Is that 2700k in your computer-sig running at stock speeds? Arma 2 scales almost linearly with your CPU. At stock speeds on my i7 It has a tough time going above 30 in a lot of situation. I haven't played DayZ since it was in very early stages (like when you started with a .45, and only 1 spawn point), but it ran like any other arma 2 mission. Sometimes it dips down into the high 20's on my rig when OC'd, regardless of settings, even when I tried out a set of 560 ti's, almost the same frame rates as 275s.

All this talk of ARMA2... and it's just been released on GOG... hm...

...

I think my Phenom II rig is shot. mad.gif Got a replacement for the bad RAM, the new stuff passes Memtest like a champ - three complete passes and not a twitch. The bad stuff had 800,000 errors when I hit stop on the first pass.

But the system just won't work! It's driving me nuts. Linux installs and boots fine - it's totally happy. I can run linux based stress tests until the cows come home and no problems... but Windows just won't install. It just BSODs as soon as the cursor appears for the install routine. BSOD error is either 50, 24 (both of which appear to be related to bad memory) or a new one just now was 7F. I've just gutted the box so I can run it all open-bench tomorrow to try to find what's going on.

I've changed the SATA cables, I've zeroed the drives so that its not a bad MFT causing issues. As I said the RAM is fine according to Memtest and linux stress tests.

I'm currently thinking the IMC in the CPU has started going, which will be very annoying as the CPU is just out of warranty I think (will need to check) and besides, 1090T's are like hens teeth now. I'll probably pick up the cheapest AM3 mobo I can with four DIMM slots simply to try that idea out. But I'm tired, I've tried all the usual stuff I can think of and I'm really, really annoyed right now. Largely because I don't really want to spend more money, even if it'll fix it. I've spent enough on unexpected expenses recently already! sad-smiley-002.gif

...

Sorry, just needed to vent. If anyone has any bright ideas, though, I'll be happy to hear 'em.
