He's talking about three 1440p screens wink.gif

@Nightscar

You can run three gtx 580 3gb on 16x/16x/8x. A single core gpu will have a small impact on an 8x slot.

Get something a bit more vram like two 670 or 680s w/ 4gbs. If price a bit steep, two 7970 3gbs will do fine. If you want to stretch your dollar, a couple of 580 3gb lightnings xtremes will fit the bill nicely smile.gif

I'm not a big fan of anything large than 24-25" @ 1080. It just looks a bit odd. That's why I have no interest in playing my pc games on my flat screen. 23-24" I think is the sweet spot. Obviously, if you're going w/ 1440, 27" is the best starting point.

So your saying 2 680s at 4gig vram will run.. Not fast mind you but will run 3 1440s?
Im sorry im getting a lil confused with sorting out the msgs haha
The games i normally play are games like hl2 gta4 and many different mmos, mortal online; rift ect..
I think what i might do, is get the 1440 screens i spoke of and some gtx 680s at least i will have the screens for a future rebuild.
What do you think?
Thank you again guys, i appologise for being a noob in this catagory, but its intresting and I like learning new techs.

two 680s will be tasked on three 1440s. Plus you have to think about your current cpu possibly holding you back a bit.

two 680s on three 1080/1200 monitors should be pretty solid.

Nah I wouldn't say that at all.

I have GTX 680 4GB SLI and the top games do not run my 3x 1200P well at all. BF3 because it's very well optimized works fine with 2x or no AA but the latest games like Hitman, Planetside etc average in the 40s without graphics maxxed out. I'd be running 3-Way GTX 670 SLI for 1440P and will be buying a third GTX 680 4GB for my rig this week. At1440P AA isn't soo important but the resolution is still too high for two of any current gen GPUs.

I believe the problem with Hitman & Planetside and low fps are Nvidia driver issues. I have found also that games run much smoother without MSAA and just using FXAA. Nvidia driver have more maturing to do with surround and multi-GPU setups with the Kepler cards in some games.

@ Nightscar
This guy is running 7680x1440 with 670 4gb sli and he states he is getting good fps with setting teaks of course. You can PM him if you have more questions on that setup.

But with your current CPU I would be hesitant to go above 5760x1080 IMO.

Dear saweet baby Jesus.... If you go with 32GB of RAM, I hope are you planning on running some virtual machines/ram disk biggrin.gifthumb.gif. I'd say 3 4GB 680's will foot the bill with having to disable MSAA in some titles. Unless you absolutly want the x79 platform just because, seems like you could accomplish what you are wanting to do with a differnt chipset and a 3770K also. I could be wrong though tongue.gif

:::Edit:::: I'm assuming that you will be overclocking the CPU/GPU's?
