My friend got me Dishonored off steam sale for Christmas. He works for Bethesda (technically Zenimax Online Studios, he is working on Elder Scrolls Online) too, but even steam deal was better than his employee discount lol.

I picked Hitman: Absolution over Dishonored after watching a ton of vids on youtube.
I might go back for Dishonored today, tell me what you think about it, your review...

thanks.

Crikey it's been a long time since I've seen OCN. frown.gif

If I'm too busy to say it later... Happy Christmas, chaps. smile.gif

I've got a few days off, so hopefully I'll be able to catch up with the backlog. Have spent the last two months trying to get my new job going smoothly. Won't get into that on a public forum. Only had internet at my flat for the last three weeks, and mostly been pulling 14+ hour days which leave me too tired to even think about going online when I get home. It may ease somewhat in the new year.

I'm somewhat disturbed to see the... strength of debate... that has been happening recently. That said, you seem to have resolved it in a mostly amicable fashion. smile.gif And ultimately, I've seen far worse happen on other forums. 2GB cards will power Surround OK. Heck, for ages I was running a single GTX680 2GB, and that was doing fine, except in specific cases, provided I was careful what settings I was running! It's really res dependent, though, obviously - triple 900p isn't going to be as demanding as triple 1440p - I thought that went without saying. wink.gif I basically only went 4GB because I could, although for all use I've had out of this system in the last two months, I probably needent have bothered. frown.gif

Looking at picking up Doom 3 BFG at the GMG sale for $10. Anyone try it out in surround? I will not buy without good surround support thumb.gif

This looks like it might be a good place to ask my question. I have a gtx 670 ftw and I am looking into getting three identical displays. Does anyone have this same card? I would like to know what kind of performance to expect playing BF3 on ultra and if there is a grid utility to full screen windows to one monitor when in surround mode. Thanks guys and gals!

Edit: the monitors will be 1080p.

with just 1 card you won't be able to do full ultra with maxed out msaa on surround. if you are looking for benchmarks this site, along with top benchmarking websites have already done all the tests necessary with 1 card vs. 2 cards. You definitely at least need 2 cards if ultra and everything maxed is your goal unless you are willing to sacrifice.

Doom 3 works in Surround if you're handy with the .cfg edits. I've not tried the BFG release, but I imagine it's either no different, or supports Surround slightly better...

OK...

I don't think a single 670 will handle BF3 on Ultra. You might get away with High, but Ultra... not a chance. I've got a pair of FTW+ 4GB 670s, and they struggle with Ultra. They're so, so close to OK, but I need to tweak a few settings to keep it as smooth as I prefer.

If you're prepared to run settings other than Ultra (and if you take some time to tweak them, you'll likely find a spot that performs much better but is almost indistinguishable from Ultra settings) a single 670 should do OK. I've tested my 2GB 680 briefly and it does fairly well, so long as I don't ask it to do Ultra. smile.gif

On the grid utility front... the nVidia drivers allow that for most programs. It's an option in the Desktop menu item of the nVidia Control Panel under 'Desktop -> Surround Displays'

I say most, because Visual Studio 2010 SP1 outright refuses to maximise to one monitor for me... it always goes across all three. Firefox, Chromium, MS Office, Foobar 2000, Notepad++ and all the other programs I use regularly will maximise to one single monitor of a Surround group OK. But Visual Studio just does its own thing.

Thanks for the info guys! You've been a big help. I am willing to sacrifice because I am used to running my games on a 460. I might be able to sli with another 670 later on or I might get an 8000 series radeon depending on the circumstances. As always, I love OCN.

Mods that have released for the game look sweet! http://www.overclock.net/t/1140722/guide-how-to-mod-doom-3-for-insane-graphics

I would recommend just finding an original copy of doom 3 and installing all the bad ass mods for it smile.gif

I would visit THIS ultimate Doom 3 mod thread (the one you posted) thumb.gif The original appears to be more superior visually (with the mods installed) than the new BFG edition by far.

However, word of warning.... i have a 670 SLI system and I have to play at 1080p. HDR absolutely destroys hardware in modded Doom 3. biggrin.gif If you need some assistance with the mods let me know.
