[Official] nVidia Surround - Page 257

portrait vs landscape should be a cinch to test. you don't have to rotate your monitors too wink.gif

I did ran the Metro benchmark in 3240x1920. Ill switch Surround to landscape and run it again biggrin.gif

Anyone using 310.90 drivers? I made the mistake of installing them. Now every time if I have been away and had my pc off on the first boot I get the driver has failed wrap error that I get after I uninstall my drivers. So I reboot and it works as normal. Pain in the arse, happened to me twice now.

Edit:
Other people with the same issue.. Stay away..

I'm using them. No issues with 3-way sli.

I work in London. biggrin.gif

nVidia's prices, particularly on older models, are a law unto themselves. Sometimes stuff gets cheaper then vanishes (as I said) sometimes they remain extortionately expensive. (Scan still have GTX570s and 580s in stock, but they're models that are far from cheap...) some manufacturers allow retailers to drop prices simply to clear old stock. Some don't. Usually the double VRAM cards don't drop in price, although the EVGA 2.5GB GTX570 HD did drop by about £100, then it vanished off the face of the earth about a week later.

Nope. And worse, after the nightmare that getting 310.70 working was, I'm too chicken to go back to an older driver. redface.gif

I simply don't have the time right now to spend four hours fighting with a driver that doesn't want to work first time. mad.gif

Sold my X58 mobo for $150 and my 920 for $200 on Ebay. First time I ever made money by upgrading. Used the extra money to buy 16GB 1866mhz ram. Next is replacing my SLI GTX275's for some 4GB 670s.
I've also noticed the micro stutter in newer drivers. Around the time the 400 series were being worked on. But on my z77 board the 26x.xx and 275.xx drivers do not work, so I'm stuck with 301.xx and some microstutter. I wish i could figure out what is causing it (i'm guessing its the SLI profile settings, and I can't get nHancer to run to change anything).
Hm. I'm wondering whether it's a 300 series issue, now, as I didn't try my 470s with the 300 series driver. Troublesome.

I've just done some fairly serious tweaking with my Surround rig; not going to mess about with it again for a while... I'd just like to use it! wink.gif

IIRC, the Phantom cards are a custom PCB - a lot like one of my favourite GPUs ever, my Gigabyte 4850 1GB. Had some serious power regulation circuitry on that - even massively overclocked, they barely got warm... didn't fit any waterblocks, though (except GPU only, obviously...)

Will do. Welcome to Surround. wink.gif

Ergotech are a good make.

Looks like the 6100 is going to stick until I have enough cash to buy a Z87 board, 4770K, Asus 670 DCii, EK Acetal wb and a north bridge block for the new motherboard and a new mouse. I think that's going to take up most of my £1000 budget?
Yeah, that'll eat the best part of a grand.

though I'm predicting the GTX 7 series to be the GTX 5 series in referencing the GTX 4 series being the GTX 6..
I then might upgrade GPU's before I think about Haswell, but that's just me..
even thought I have a Kepler card (GTX 660 Ti) I'm not that much of a fan,
so it and my SLi (TF III -448's) set-up might both go at the same time..
Sounds reasonable to me. While nVidia don't show any signs of adopting an Intel-alike 'tick tock' (last two generations have both had new arch and new process at the same time) they do tend to use the next generation to iron out the worst issues. wink.gif

Intel. That's about it. I doubt it'll be DDR4, though.

Still, having said that, Intel do like to jump on bandwagons early, sometimes (see: RAMBUS, DDR2, DDR3) it's not unusual for them to start using a new RAM tech before it's superior to what we were using at the time.

Doubt it. From the sounds of it, Ivy-E isn't even octocore, despite there being Xeon chips with more cores and cache. It's the -EP chips with 12 cores and more cache than you can shake a stick at. biggrin.gif They cost a fortune, however, to compensate.

The hexacore SB-E chips are still pricy, even second-hand. As I said, I was toying with quad-socket 64-core AMD goodness... another option is a dual-socket hexacore Intel affair.

If you're OK with quads, or using HyperThreading, LGA1155 is OK. But if what you're doing likes physical cores, rather than logical... LGA2011 or socket G34 are the only real options. frown.gif

when i have a bigger desk i puth them in landscape mode, now they won't fit.
Triple monitor stands are your friends. wink.gif But finding good ones that fit 27" monitors can be tricky.

I'd avoid the XFX one; Ergotech if you're in the US/Canada, the basic Scan one if you're in the UK and don't want to import 25KGs of metal. Does the XFX one support 27" monitors? The Scan one doesn't (or rather, mine doesn't)...
