SB will run cooler and probably reach the same if not better clocks. I quickly sold my 3770k to stick with my 2700k. If you're gonna change, go w/ x79-lga2011

I'm thinking that I could just turn up the overclock on my 2500K from 4.5GHz to about 4.8GHz
so maybe a better case and grab the new H80i CPU cooler. that would probably take care of the CPU.
(even though it's not lagging by any means now..)

then SLi my PE's....

what you guys think.?
1440p monitor for 1080p unit as well and then move 3 x 1080p over to my Surround.

SLi for sure... new case would be sweet too. thumb.gif I'm still rocking an i7 920 in my gaming rig lol haven't needed to upgrade it. I was so sure I'd keep it for another year that I put it under water a few months ago haha.

thanks man, that just about decides it for me....
gonna do the case and the cooling now and then SLi next up...
my SLi (448's clocked to 570's) are just gonna have to deal with Crysis 3 @ 3840 x 1024 for a few more weeks..
smile.gif

edit:
an i7-920 @ 3.8GHz or so is nothing to sneeze at, hell you might be even higher on cooling..

i run my 2700k at 4.6 on air fine, I have had it at 5.0 on air running below 75c but I turned it down because I had to disable hyper threading and crank the voltage up insane amount higher for 400mhz.. Decide to just run it at a cool 4.6

not sure how much going from 4.5 to 4.8 with 2500k would even matter. especially for gaming.
good point about 4.5 - 4.8GHz....

My 2700k did 4.9 w/ 1.325V biggrin.gif (evga z77 ftw). My sniper3 runs it at 4.7 w1.365v. Still pretty solid for quad 580s. I can probably push it to 5.0 with some tweaking (did boot at 5.0 w/ 1.425v). The EVGA was ultra buggy and it wouldn't budge to 5.0 but it ran 4.9 on air (maxed ~85c).

Btw, B&H Photo has the Asus 23" ips monitors for $169 and a $10 MIR; TOTAL $159. Your limited to two w/ the discount ($10 each) and the MIR is limited to two by Asus. You can always create a second order for a 3rd to get the $10 but no more mir (unless you wait for next month if Asus has another one). Free shipping and I think tax for NY only. Might pick these up and sell my 21.5" ones. That extra 1.5" will help w/ portrait.
