I ran two GTX580's before I picked up my 3rd card. Two will play just about everything well, but three adds some much needed horsepower. You've definitely got the better platform though, as 1366 X58 systems have more pci-e lanes for more throughput for the cards to flourish. I went SandyBridge for sheer speed, but the pci-e lanes are only 20 as opposed to your 36.

You say 2 should play fine. See my post above about Crysis 2? What res should i run the get decent FPS and quality. 6028X1080 and lower on the 6020 and still not playable

I'm at 5760x1080 and get 45+ frames in Crysis2 (dx11, high res text., and "extreme" settings). Full high settings aren't playable though.

Seems like you shouldn't be having any trouble tbh. My cards are only 1280mb.

I would say diffinetely something wrong. I was thinking maybe the rest of your rig but definitely not. Have you tried reinstalling the drivers?

No. Simply that you should expect to see FPS drop by anything from 60-80% when going from one screen to three.

The issue is exacerbated by bezel correction - some games see a much more significant FPS hit with bezel correction enabled than without. Not quite sure why, but I suspect it's because of the way the nVidia drivers calculate the bezel corrected areas.

No, not at all.

Admittedly, I've not tried Crysis 2, but Crysis is decidedly playable on medium settings on GTX460s in Surround. But I spent a long time playing games on low/medium settings when I was restricted to gaming on a 64MB mobile Radeon, so...

I still can't decide which is the better platform for Surround. More raw CPU power in P67/Z68, or improved memory bandwidth and PCI-E lanes in X58...

First port of call will always be drivers. I went through hell when running a 6800GT/7900GTO/8800GT with drivers; it seemed every time a new game came out, nVidia needed to release a new driver to get the game working without issues. With Surround, and it's dependence on what I can best describe as 'not-quite-SLI' the drivers become even more critical to make sure that games run as well as they might.

If you're running Crysis 2 off a HDD, might be worth a defrag. Despite what they say, I can't believe that you actually need an SSD for the HD DX11 textures. Also, if you're running an antivirus that likes to scan everything every time it's accessed, that may account for the low framerates.

If you're running MSI Afterburner, have a look at GPU clocks when playing Crysis 2. The cards might not be clocking up to full speed, or they may be overheating and then downclocking... I don't know, at present, I'm just tossing ideas out that would be worth checking.

god i just love Surround

i cant imagine how i was playing games before lol, its so much real estate that i was missing out, espacialy mafia 2 is so much more fun to play like that, you can see around corners while runing its just cool
