Definitely agree that 1080p @ 60hz will restrict the massive power of 3 Titans in 99% of games. Your gaming experience is all about what you see visually.

Well I love 3d surround gaming. Its one of those things you just HAVE to experience. Now not everyone likes 3d, some people are sensitive to it. Its a person to person basis. Question to yourself is how much you like 3d in theaters. IMO it adds so much to the gameplay. 3d gives a more realistic look to textures by giving them real-world depth. It can make my monitors look 20ft deep! So in certain situations it feels and looks like Im shooting someone in the next room, and not just on a screen. Kind of eerie actually! 3d in racing games real-world depth gives you a much more intense sense of speed and can give me that adrenaline rush or butterflies in the stomach as if racing a car in real-world. Only difference is you can restart if you crash and die. redface.gif

Now 3d monitors are good if you like a lot of gaming options. 3d doesnt work well with all game types so you also have the options of 2d surround @ 120hz and or 2d Lightboost which is amazing in multiplayer and actually gives you an advantage over you opponents with lower visual reaction times(due to 2x the frames being displayed vs 60hz), much higher motion quality- when fast turning or panning you get much less of the PQ blur, this helps your reaction time also, you can run pan & shoot while not having to run pan pause (for motion quality to clear) then shoot. This is only fractions of a second in real time, but every millisecond in multiplayer could mean the difference between life and death.

7680x1440 @ 120hz would be great also, especially if your not a big 3d fan. A good benifit of the higher res would be less CPU bottlenecks. This could play greatly in some games due to the massive GPU grunt of 3 Titans. A question to ask yourself is how well your Xeon setup handles CPU limited games. Ex. BF3 64p mp. Hitman Absolution, Metro, Sleeping Dogs(in some areas).

OR YOU COULD JUST GO COMPLETE BOSS AND GET 3 OF THESE!!!!!!!!!
4K SURROUND!!!! eek.gif

Would be less CPU restricted with 4k Surround. Only thing is you would loose 120hz, 3d, and would be hard to run GPU intense games. And will cost and arm and a leg when it releases! Could sell a kindey, you only need one. biggrin.gif But is definitely on the bleeding edge of technology.

Best options are two:
1. 1440 and my vote goes for three Qnix screens or three crossovers for the pivots and smaller frame even though Qnixs can be oced to 96hz easy.

2. Lightboost 2d with zero blur. Its freaking awesome according to those who tried it.

I always go for the better colors better viewing angles so I went for the qnixs.

ROFL. Your crazy.

Dude, that is ridiculous!! I wouldn't even want to know how much lol... I looked at some of those 30" apple screens (granted they used that proprietary connection an all) but they were like $2k or some thing crazy.

Hmmmm.... the 3D in the theater is waaaaaaaaay to much for me. My depth perception is uncanny and to watch 3d in the theater I had to manually focus my eyes to enjoy the 3d. When looking at 3d TV's I found the only ones that didn't mess with me were the high frequency setups with active glasses (namely plasma screens and the 240 hz LED screen i think). Color and picture quality are a plus for me. I'm using three AOC 21.5 inch 1080 screens right now so anything I get will be an upgrade lol. I've just never used high quality screens except my old 1920x1440 Dimatron powered CRT... it took me until 2009 to pick up an LCD because of that 75lb monster! lol

I actually do work for a company that qualifies for the Intel Retail Edge, but I don't work in the retail portion of the company (I'm in corporate / HR) - I tried to sign up but they asked me what store number I worked from and as much as I would love to score a deal, I'm not going to even going to think about bending the truth to save a few bucks.

Which ever setup one you choose you are in for one huge visual upgrade! thumb.gif
If you dont like 3d in theaters that is concerning going for some 3d/120 hz monitors. I find myself going to the theaters only for 3d IMAX now a days. If not i will just watch it at home. You might be better suited for some 7680x1440 120hz monitors as King4x4 had stated.

On the other hand 3d vision compatible monitors use the active shutter glasses that divide 120hz in to 2. 60fps to each eye. This is the same technology used in the high-end plasma and LED 3DTVs. Dont believe all that marketing hype with 240hz and 600hz TVs, they all still display only up to 120hz in 3d, 60hz to each eye.

Definitely those 4k monitors are going to be some crazy amount of money when they first release. No official price yet, but they are expected to be in between $3-5k EACH. Ouch!!! that means up to $15k. Thats why i stated before you will have to sell a kidney to get 3 of these bleeding edge monitors.

3240x1920 anyone?

Bezels are a bit thick, but no worse than in landscape, they just appear worse due to the aspect ratio. Doesn't bother me much. I have noticed that I seem to have great difficulty with facebook rendering correctly in the browser now. Anyone know anything about that?

Either way, I was curious... So I rigged something up with a newegg box and some heavy duty double sided tape:

With the latest drivers, FF is having a fit. Chrome is very stable but I'm still not a big fan. It'll have to do for now.
