I was sitting back from the monitor and I could NOT imagine playing with 3 monitors because the glasses seem cheap and blocked my vision. Has anyone else experienced this? is the viewing angle to the other two monitors possible?, the glasses just seem like they would block it out. (maybe just my oversized head)
My future plan was to buy 3x 3d Acer and 2x 580s and course 3D vision kit... but after playing on a single monitor this weekend I am not sure if I like it and glad I didn't move forward with the purchase.
I also don't know if it just takes more time to get used to it but I was really getting owned... again not my system and taking some time to get used to it would have helped but I was having a hard time getting a fell for 3D. Seemed to just fine without the glasses on though.
Sorry maybe I should start a new thread...?
You raise a point that I'd considered before, albeit not that much since my main interest was 2D surround at 120hz. To answer your question: yes, part of your peripheral vision is blocked. I would say that, at a normal viewing distance seated at a desk, you won't see about 30-40% of what's going on in either side monitor using a 23" x 3 setup in 3D.
Not sure what you mean about "getting owned" though. Are you talking about MP? You don't want 3D for that since it limits your frames to 60 FPS and forces V-sync, which causes input lag.
What games did you play? If you are not 'wowed' by the experience now, you most likely won't warm to it over time. I was extremely impressed with 3D for the first couple weeks, and then the novelty sort of wore off. It's still enjoyable in some games some of the time, but I ended up finding the smoothness of the 120hz the much more attractive feature.
Also, two 580s is really not good enough to drive 3DVS at respectable framerates (45+ FPS) outside of Source games, at least not on high settings.Edited by matrices - 7/12/11 at 12:06pm
