Btw most GPU companies(EVGA, Asus) cover OCing damage now a days. I do agree with you on the flashed bios, which is not covered, im to cautious of my cards to have them fried with a non-native bios. But to each is his own.
Not going to discuss cpu because it opens up a can of worms (remember quad vs hexacore
). So lets keep on it on gpu stock vs oc ( and/or vs modded bios) for each one's setup. We can therefore figure out what percentage gains you
get when you start bumping up the clocks in your setup.
Here's mine stock vs oc (+103 clock, power 106%):
57.67 afps vs 60.33 afps, increase ~4.6 %
103+ is the highest stable clocks my cards will do. I suspect the lower clocking one is hitting its limit above 103.
Since I'm running stock bios, I can only offset to 106%
edit: oc'ing gpu(s) is not as as the old Fermi days

On my 780 SC's with stock bios, maxed power target and maxed voltage in precision with a + ~115 offset
I'm seeing 1215-1228 core clock stable. That's a massive increase, with little effort. It makes a huge difference in Metro LL at max settings. Even though the game runs at ~70fps maxed out in surround, when huge battles take place the frames dip and that extra ~10% makes a big difference.Plus lets face it, chilling out at home over clocking GPU's and benchmarking is just awesome
How can you get max power target 115 when both precision and Ab show 106 tops? I believe you're referring to modded bios to let you up the power target? I really would like to see #s as the 780 club just goes on and on about synthetic benchmarks like Valley and 3D13. Metro LL bench is not perfect but it does represent real world gaming a lot better then Valley or FireStrike.
edit: I'm also loading ~60-70% in the game and benchmark. Crysis 3 does push these guys to ~95%.Edited by wermad - 8/1/13 at 12:02am
