Hopefully, nvidia learned some good lessons this year (more vram and multi-monitor support on a single card and more with Surround).

Indeed, i plan to buy 2 more U2311h's in the future (read: when it is supported)

On my way to surround probably within the next month. I should stop looking at this thread until then, considering it makes me want to drop the money on the monitors right now.

Strongly depends on what driver you tried, IMO. I had to set EyeFinity up for a friend recently (likes tech, completely helpless with anything more than running games/Office) and it was one of the smoothest install experiences I've had. Having said that, so was the install experience for Surround with 258.96; it's just all the drivers since then that have given me epic headaches. 270.61 was the only one that worked, and even that hiccuped during setting up Surround.

Then leave us, and come back when you have them. Or don't. Stay here, buy them now, and we can help you come to terms with how awesome Surround gaming can be, or how you can never go back.

Setting up Surround on both my three 470s and three 580s was super easy. I was done within 2 minutes.

I took me a few days to sort out Eyefinity and even after that it was a pita. Everyone knows how iffy amd drivers add. I rolled back about 6 versions of the drivers to make Eyefinity behave. Its seems that its more tricky when you go portrait as I didn't much hassle with it when trying landscape.

I do credit amd for providing Eyefinity with one card, but tbh why would you want to run that many screens with games on one card? I know a lot of people need the extra screen real-estate but a single card results in crappy results for gamers.

I think it was 10.10 that had support for Portrait (beta) mode, it's taken until 11.7 or 11.8 to get another driver release that supports portrait mode, IIRC. Or maybe that's just 5x1P, I forget.

Anyway, guess I got lucky with the 6970 setup I did.

As for one card... have to say, many of the games I've been playing in Surround recently would work fine off a single card - I seem to be on a semi-retro kick ATM; playing lots of old Quake 3 engine games. Well, mostly Jedi Outcast and Jedi Academy, actually...

I begin to suspect that some of my Surround issues have stemmed from the fact that I'm not running three identical monitors...

I did 11.6 to 11.1 and 11.4 was the most stable.

I couldn't conquer (max settings) Metro 2033 @ 3240x1920 with three unlocked 6950s on water. I should be able to break Metro now

I've not even tried to get Metro running at max settings. Had a go at 1080p on GTX470SLI, watched in horror as the framerate fluctuated in the mid-teens, occasional low-twenty, and turned it down a bit. I'm not even going to bother trying Metro in Surround until the next gen of cards are out, and I can afford a couple (or more) of the very top end ones.

Oh, in a (slightly) unrelated note... how did you fit two RX480s into a Corsair 800D?

Three 470s couldn't muster medium settings dx10, the three 6950s could do anything higher than high and dx10.

Two RX480 you ask . The top is a straight forward mod. The bottom requires a lot of modding and relocating the psu. Click on my log for the pics and odyssey through this never ending build.

Ah, yes, now I remember reading that, and thinking, "Wow, want, but..."
