[Official] nVidia Surround - Page 701

Hi,
after 16 hours (3days) of reading this 700 sites at work (had alot of time) and after a half year of reading different things about multimonitor I joined OCN to ask questions.

My rig:
I7 3770k 4,7Ghz
2x680GTX SLI (1215/1752 Mhz)
Benq 2420 T (lightboost hack)

I´m not really sure what I really want :-/. Perhaps you guys could help me. I bought last week my wife a Qnix 27" monitor. Wow what awesome colors and yesterday I tried to overclock it = 120Hz :-). Really nice gaming on Ultra without MSAA on BF3, Splinter Cell and Hitman and Dirt 3 with 120FPS.

I know also how nice it is to play with 120 FPS 1080p at BF3 with my BenQ 2420T "lightboost-hack". So now at this moment I don´t know if I should join Triplemonitor gaming. It is really worth the upgrade? Now at this moment my BenQ 2420T is on amazon for 370$. So I need two of them. They was in september at 269$. Why are so expensive right now? The new BenQ 2420TE (144hz) is 329$. Could I use them together or should I sell my BenQ 2420T and buy three of BenQ 2420TE?

I don´t want 3 Qnix! To much GPU housepower for triple monitor 1440p.

Or should I stay with only one BenQ2420T? Or should I sell my BenQ2420T and buy another Qnix and overclock it and stay away with triple monitor?

Next problem my new imported table from germany measures 45" x 30". So I couldn´t stand up 3 monitors. I´ve to buy a triple monitor stand there is one at ebay for 59$ and another one for 109$. Should I buy one of these?

Mmmhhh. I really like to play Actiongames and I preorderd BF4. Did I´ve an advantage in FPS-Games with triple monitors?

So a lot of questions. Hopefully you guys could help me to figure out something what is the best for me. I tried to tell you the most i could do. Probably I´ll stay where I am now or I´ll be in the 1440p club or I´ll be in the triple monitor 1080 club :-/

Best regards
Tribolex

Oof, I can give you a better answer tomorrow when i'm not about to pass out @ my keyboard... but as to the monitor stands, you get what you pay for. Try to get one that has adjustable mounts... The top one has issues w/ screens not matching up.'

look for something with something like this.

ergotech is pricey, but they make great units.

Not to much I can help with your post about other than I just bought that exact stand about a week and half ago. It's fairly sturdy, and you get a lot for what you pay for it, but it still could be a bit better. The side monitors can droop a little bit, and just takes a bit of working with to get right. But for as cheap as it is, I would buy another if I had to.

Careful as even though it says it can hold like 27" monitors, that must be in portrait mode. For landscape, I have 21.5" monitors and I don't think anything other 23" would work too well.

So... I have the second stand... see my sig rig. Any stand with arms that have a hinge will be weak and flimsy, especially over time. UNLESS... you spend 300-500 USD. The rigid stand you have here (the one I have had for over 6 months) is perfect! It sets the monitors at a perfect angle, especially if you tuck the side monitor bezels behind the center monitor just right. It gives an illusion of a single bezel thinkness vs. over twice the width of the bezels when mounted flush / side-by-side.

Here are some pics of mine the way it is now... (sorry for the kitty hair everywhere... this weekend is the monthly office cleaning spree)

This is my view... (crappy iPhone pics)

This is the bezel overlap. I'm REALLY pleased with how with works. Especially considering the thickness of these monitors.

And here are some shots of the back and the middle VESA mount compared to the side monitor VESA mounts. These DO swivel just fine for portrait mode as well.

Hope this helps!!! biggrin.gif

That was really cool watching those full resolution. I haven't tried any racing games for myself and watching that makes me want to try a few.

Mother of God build their Baasha! How's your scaling? have you compared 3-way vs 4-way? I may jump on 4-way titan or quad-fire 290X biggrin.gif
