If you want to bench, use Heaven 2.1. It's free and has tesselation options and works fine in surround mode.

Bit stupid, really; wish they'd done something that would for everything... it's not like it would have taken too much extra coding - in fact it might have taken less!

I figured out what it is, I've started using just a single screen (1920 x 1080) when I'm just at my desktop or using programs, this is because my server is hooked upto to one of the screens (left screen) and my PS3 hooked upto another (right screen) but then in games I've set it so it switches them to run on 3 screens (5760 x 1080).

This is fine in all other games, however in Deus Ex it treats it differently and basically trys to upscale and stretch the 1920 x 1080 resolution to fit the 3 screens.

To fix this I need to set my desktop resolution to 5760 x 1080 (in nv:cp) and then start the game. Also make sure the aspect ratio is set to auto.

But it's marketing, and it'll never change.

I honestly didn't know that!!! I have been planning on upgrading to a GTX 590 thinking I would get 3gb vram which would be plenty of horsepower and vram too run everything for awhile. But your telling me that I would actually only get a 1.5gb vram limit before it hits the wall?

I'm going to switch them around and then start playing around with the color adjustments. I also have a modified monitor stand, thus its not perfect and could be lending to the motion sickness (I'll be picking up an ergotech one when I get my tax refund next year).

I did throw up the very first time I tried my surround setup, I was already half way through portal 2 and I jumped off a tall ledge into a portal in the ground and went flying out another high portal in the wall, it was the way the screen kind of zooms out when you fly fast and spins around when you come out of a portal at a different angle who-let-rip-smiley.png.

Anyway couldn't the screen difference in colour or brightness not be because of viewing angles and the angling in off the side monitors?

Ah. Well, at least you figured it out. Exotic hookups for my Surround system aren't on my list of things to try again any time soon. wink.gif If nVidia would add hotkey mode switching between Surround/Extended Desktop, I'd probably hook a secondary system up to one of my side monitors...

Yup. The dual GPU cards are a bit of a con, really; always have been with the way marketing tries to confuse buyers.

The cards have to mirror data between their VRAM because of the way SLI/CrossFire works. They each have access to half of it, as the idea of a 'shared pool' of VRAM for multiple GPUs is an engineering headache/nightmare on the level of the pipe-dream that is/was 'reverse hyperthreading'. wink.gif

I'm still thinking very seriously about 2.5GB GTX570s, although I was hoping to wait and see what Bulldozer looked like too.

Potentially.

I know it's not in my case because I tried it. Line all the monitors up not angled, and move along them... the left and right monitors, regardless of your position relative to them, are still darker/slight greenish compared to the centre. In the end, I gave up when they were "good enough" and stopped worrying about it. I'm unlikely to be able to fix it, especially since the side monitors (2405s) are PVA panels, and the centre monitor (2410) is IPS.

hi all

I'm using 2x a GTX480 for nvidia 2D surround gaming.
But I have some problems, these problems are concerning my keyboard and headset.

When I'm going to play a game with nvidia surround enabled, my Logitech G19 keyboards stops working, my keys are not reacting.
I tried different games, but all games have the same problem.

Then about my headset, when I'm playing a game my headset makes distorting noises.
When I'm watching a movie or listening music my headset works correctly
i hope some one can help give me some answer

I think it has something to do with the usb ports, I think surround is messing up my USB ports.
I spend a lot of money for my setup and then you get problems, this makes me cry

I hope some one can solve my problem.

thx

hey guys im new to nvidia surround and i was wondering is there anyway to cheaply improve my system via overclocking or anything else so that i can maximise its performance for nvidia surround for games like bad company 2 and soon to be BF3 as sometime i can play bc2 on medium to high settings and sometimes i cant and its starting to bug me if oc'in is a soloution could you please provide a guide to follow for dummys like me tongue.gif

Wish I knew exactly what the problem was here but it certainly doesn't sound like a common one, the first thing that springs to mind is if it's only happening when you are gaming maybe the increase in load on your cards (which is usually a lot more during multi screen gaming than single screen gaming) maybe drawing more power from your PSU to your GPU's and then starving your motherboard of juice and some onboard functions are ceasing to function.

This is a very out of the box thinking of what could be the problem, I would recommend you fill out your system specs in your account control panel and maybe others might know exactly what's the problem redface.gif

Overclocking usually always improves performance to a point, however with surround (multi screen gaming) there is a very important factor that comes onto play and that's the VRAM (Virtual RAM) your graphics cards have available.

If I remember correctly GTX 470's have 1.25GB of VRAM available and the bigger the resolution, textures, geometry being rendered the more VRAM that will be being used.

If your getting good performance but then just keep getting major drops in frame rates every now and then for a couple of seconds then your probably hitting you 1.25GB VRAM limit. Although I should imagine 2x 470's should be fine on BF:BC2 with either no AA at 5760x1080, however if your adding any AA and I'd say you'll definitely be hitting it.

I have a feeling your CPU might be whats holding you back though, @ 2.8ghz you might be bottlenecking your GPU's.

Deffinetly try over clocking to at least 3.8ghz which your H70 should handle no problem at keeping the CPU cool, I reckon if you turn Hyper threading off and up your voltage bit by bit until its stable then you could probably reach 4.1 - 4.2ghz and you will gain some extra frames doing so.

There are guides on OCN (such as this one) which can guide you to overclocking you 930, hope this helps you with performance.
