that would totally screw up PS3

Why not have the TV as an accessory display? That would be much easier.

EDIT: Anybody have this stand and using portrait? http://www.amazon.com/dp/B001NPEC5A/ref=wl_it_dp_o_pC_nS_ttl?_encoding=UTF8&colid=4OBYM7HJUQ5A&coliid=I1H6H5DZTSJWTV

Or, reccomendations for ~200 stands or cheaper for portrait? I want to get a nice stand that accommodates my monitors because I don't like the look of separate stands, it would be sturdier, and cable managment would be less of a pain imo.

I have the "Widescreen Gaming Edition" Ergotech stand. The one with 5 of those arms. It is by far one of the best stands you can get before entering into the enterprise grade (1,000$) stand market. I'm running 3x 27(26.25 wide) monitors in landscape and I get zero droop (after tightening the joints) I have tried portrait, but my monitors look absolutely terrible in it.

It will support portrait juuuust fine.

OH, my only recommendation is getting some sort of pad to put under the foot. It will slide around pretty easy on wood/glass. Thin piece of rubber mat will work great.

Thats a nice stand.

I kept my triples on the desk and went with a double vertical stand to get the accessory display high enough.

I'm trying to avoid having "wings" with the monitor arms sticking out. I think 5 adjustable pivot points would just cause this even more.

I plan on wall mounting my accessory above, so no issue for me. I just need to find a nice stand that won't have the arms sticking out while in portrait. Heck, I might just go all out and get one that allows me to switch from portrait to landscape easily. That would require mounting to the desk though. Good thing I'm having a custom desk build when I move. tongue.gif

Trying to avoid constantly switching the videos config. Sometimes game on the TV as primary. actually more often then not unless the game is surround.

I'm always watching my TV shows through the computer (Media center) I can skip past commercials or rewind parts I missed. Or I just watch my shows through streaming as my cable is just standard def and the streaming actually looks much better.

You can easily switch which monitor is primary through Windows Control Panel. Just about as easy as using the splitter.

I realize this, my statements were more a testimony to the build quality of the ergotech stands. The one you linked should allow for pretty damned easy switching, depending on your monitor size.

The WSGF XXL Stand has an extended central pole to mount an accessory as well. It was an extra 50$ for it, & the extra VESA. I have no use for it atm, but grabbed it anyways due to the obscene shipping costs charged by WSGF.

True, but I can't really split/mirror my current 16" hans-g and the samsung TV because they are different resolutions and the little monitor is only dsub(and the splitter is HDMI), and I can't really run 2 accessory monitors because then I'd loose SLI. I might be able to overcome the dsub thing with my raspberry pi HDMI to VGA converter, but the resolution thing would be difficult...

Also the only downside to these otherwise great LG monitors is that they a bezel(just on the bottom) but with a lump, so I'd want to put the LG's on the sides with the lump (and controls) facing out. I would not really want to move the DELL to the center as its inferior as far as quality, so I'd probably look at getting some other brand of monitor for the center.

You can't. Only one accessory monitor is allowed. No matter how many graphics cards you have.
