[Official] nVidia Surround - Page 841

I 100% agree and I am a sim racer as well and having each screen render separately is where it's at. I hate fps and mmo's in landscape though because of the fisheye.

Is anyone else noticing their GPU not throttling down while in surround since 344.48?

My 780 now sits at 732 MHZ instead of 324 while idle in surround. If I disable surround, it goes back to idling at 324.

YESSSSSSS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Multi-viewport rendering is now ancient technology, and yet only flight sims, racing sims, and um... other sims seem to use it. It's literally be in use in arcade games for almost 20 years.

I don't even know man, I have been force throttling my GPUs for quite some time now while in 2D w/ surround on. I'll look into it though.

Yea, the thing now idles at 38 - 40c while in surround. Before it was 28 - 30c, 24c when fully idle for awhile.

welcome to my world. Iv'e been using the forced throttle tool that's built into NVinspector for qutie some time... I think its called 'Multi-monitor power saver" just make sure you add your game.exes to it, or shut it off before running anything 3D.

I never realized that going Surround means losing certain Manage 3D Settings options
ie forcing SLI to work via force alternate frame rendering option is not available

new driver cane out today support DSR, again unavailable in Surround.

Is this the case for everyone here? Anyone got good workarounds?

I know it may seem ridiculous trying to crunch 24MP, but I wanna play older games downsampled...like Source engine games because i dont need 300fps for example.

Descadent and Skupples, I'm glad to hear you guys know what I'm talking about. It seems on most forums when I talk about independent view-ports as being the only "true" form of multi-monitor gaming, I get bashed from a bunch of mainstream, fanboy, "know-it-alls", of which probably even less than half understand what independent view-ports even are.

When I was new to triple screen gaming I had only ever experienced it with racing sims...I therefore thought that all games automatically had independent view-ports. I thought it was just something that automatically happened (I was new to all this triple-screen stuff at the time). Well I finally decided to pick up 3 ASUS VG248QEs.........You don't understand how pissed off I was when I found out that independent view-ports is some "luxury" feature that only a very few select games have. I would disable my triple screens altogether and play Battlefield: Bad Company 2 on a single screen because without independent view-ports everything looks atrocious and almost gimmicky. And when you just finish playing a game with independent view-ports (eg. rFactor) and then go to a game without it then it honestly feels like the game is literally broken....It literally took me almost 3 months to finally force myself to use triple screens in games with fake triple-screen support.

In BF: BC2 I lowered the V.FOV to 50 or 55 degrees, does help some but not much, I mean even in GT Legends (no independent view-port support) at a V.FOV of 22 there is still stretching, let alone 50 degrees.

Imagine games like Metro 2033, Battlefield, etc. with true triple-screen support?....It would be AMAZING!!!

I thought at least a "hardcore" RTS like Supreme Commander 1 / Forged Alliance would give me proper triple-screen, no stretching views on all 3 monitors, I was sp pumped to have the same type of view as on my center screen but on all 3 screens! But nope! It turns into some mega zoomed-in, messed up mode. True triple-screen support is practically made for top-down RTS games.

Sorry for rambling, but it just blows my mind when I see all these "famous" youtube guys with their hundreds of thousands of views playing games on their triple screens and no one even mentions how ridiculous triple-screens are when used without independent view-ports. Game reviewers and review websites don't mention it, "famous" youtube users don't mention it, no one hardly mentions it in forums or youtube comment videos, and on and on. It's like the world thinks that stretching is normal and how it's supposed to be or something and I'm the only one (outside of the hardcore racing and flight sim communities) that notices it or something, lol.

Wayyyyyyy more of a bigger deal has to be made about this. It blows my mind how multi-million dollar studios with huge dev teams still don't implement this, yet hardcore racing and flight game devs with a fraction of a fraction of the income and like 5-10 ppl dev teams not only do implement independent view-ports, but have been doing so for probably 10 years! It's beyond shocking!

Rant over smile.gif Well, it's not so much a rant as it is a cry out to wake up the entire gaming community for the greater good of all triple-screen gamers (of any and every game-genre)

I don't think that was the case here. It booted up like that.

Oh other note, the DSR is pretty cool. I didn't like it at first, but after changing the smoothness from 33 to 10%, it looked good. At 33 it looked muddy if you ask me. I tested it on single screen not in surround of course. GW2 looked nice.
