Dual Chanel & 4x 515MB Modules - Page 2

You can run the 3 DIMM's full for a max of 3Gb and a max speed of DDR333.

It is best to stick with 2 x 512Mb or 2 x 1024Mb and have the DDR400 option.

Remember Xp's run best with tight timmings and high fsb.

So unless you really need 2x1024Mb modules, go for some TCCD IC's which are only available in 256Mb and 512Mb modules.

cheers

Well the information in this article (about running Dual Channel on 3 slots) pertains to Intel systems.
I'm not sure it would apply to AMD based systems.
Check it out anyway.

I agree about the TCCD.

When I had my Winchester I tried running 2 Gb (4x512) and it wouldn't overclock worth a dang. With 2x512's my memory overclocked up to 245 Mhz. When I put the other two sticks in, I couldn't go over 203 Mhz. I don't know if the newer memory controllers can handle 4x512's up to and beyond 250 Mhz, because I haven't installed another pair with my 3800X2 yet...
