AMD Sempron 2600+ 1.8GHz help needed

Thread Starter
Ok, its been along time since i overclocked. I think the last think I OCed was a pentium 200Mhz. Yeah thats funny.

Well I now have :
Semprom 2600+ 1.8GHz
ABIT VA-20 mb
512MB Ram
well look below, that says it all

My problem is setting, I changed the FSB from 166 on the mb to 200 and the computer wouldn't even boot up.
What I am asking is there something I can do? I would like a 2GHz if possible

I'd try changing your cpu multi to 10x, fsb at 200, and drop your RAM down to PC2100 (133mhz). Also, make sure that you aren't changing the PCI/AGP bus speed when you change your cpu FSB (there should be an option to change it "Sync" or "Async"--you want "Async" so it doesn't increase the other system bus speeds by increasing the CPU fsb)

alternatively, you might want to try dropping your ram down to 133 without changing the multiplier first--now that I think about it, this would probably be the best thing to try initially because I'm guessing you have budget ram and it might not be suitable to go over its rated speed (which is a subsequent effect of raising your cpu fsb)

You may be in a bit of a quagmire with RAM that may not run as fast as the CPU. Try upping the vdimm and losten the timings to first see if you can get it to run DDR400 stable.
