GTX 460 Default Voltage and Max Safe Voltage

Thread Starter
I just received my Gigabyte GTX 460 1GB, and I'm trying to overclock it and wondering what the default voltage for the card is, and what safe voltage I can crank it up to?

Also does anyone know what clocks are good to aim for?

Depends on which model you get. My EVGA SC model came @ 0.987v and Afterburner allows for it to reach 1.087v. I've seen others ship with 0.975v depending on their factory clocks. Not sure what the safe voltage is, but that's the max via Afterburner software.

No idea on voltage, but it looks like 800 core/1600 shader/2000 ram is the highest on a retail oc'ed card. So I would shoot for that and watch my temps.

Currently I am at 850/1700/2003 @ 1 volt.
Should I try a bit higher based on this screenie? http://www.trizzeo.com/assets/golden...0compareoc.jpg

I was able to get ~860/1740/2050 @ 1.025v, so you're doing OK. As long as the temps are OK I would think you'd be fine going up to 1.087v. I stopped at 860 because my temps were toasty.

What is a good temperature for an overclocked GTX 460?
On my old 88000GT I felt safe up to like 80 Degrees. What about this?

It's rated for 104C max temp. So it's pretty much anything you're comfortable with I would keep it under 90C Furmark though. If you can get the Furmark temps down under 80C you should have plenty of room for clocking. I haven't figured out what memory modules they use yet so I can't give you an idea of how high they'll clock. I hit 1050 (4200 Effective) on mine.

U have the normal gigabyte or the OC edition? Anyway speed up the fans to 100 and find ur max clock/volt, then turn the fan down little by little so u can get good temp/noise.

With an intake fan blowing directly on my 1GB Gigabyte GTX 460 I am up to 1.05 Volts, 900/1800/2153 with a max FurMark temp of around 76 degrees.

I think I will try playing a couple games now .

MSI afterburner 2.0, voltage at 1.025 running 885/1770/2340. Huge OC on the RAM, maxed it out with afterburner, temps never go over 60 with Kombustor.
