Im not saying you did it..
But looking at it..
You can see where the person pasted it..
And where the edge lies.
On the two sides its not noticable because it blends in.
Although it could be a magically straight line of paste/dirt/whatever.
But that seems unlikely.

Also the rest of the top of the chip is grainy while the area surrounding the second stamp is not.

good eye. it bretter not be photoshopped...that still doens't explain the sspec numbers that intel doesn't have a clue about though....
they guy who was selling it had like 200 feedback all positive, so I'm trusting him.. if i get it and crap, i'm gonna raise hell...

I don't think it's a photoshop deal man. We're talkin shadows and imperfections on the surface from having a heatsink mounted on it. Just cause something has imperfections on it, doesn't mean photoshop is the reason why. After a heatsink has been on a cpu for awhile, it doesn't look the same. I guess I'm not seeing at all what he's talking about, looks like a pic of a used cpu to me, with light obviously at a certain angle to create a little shadow.

I say hold your horses until you get the processor and check it out. Don't start raising hell before you know the situation. If you want to think that it is photoshopped, then it will be shopped, wether it is real or not it does not matter.

Um, pull what exactly?

What would Dell have to gain by selling a computer with a 3Ghz chip and stamping it with a 3.4Ghz stamp that has a processor spec that doesn't exist? I would hazard a guess that 95% of Dell customers will never see their CPU period, let alone the top part and that stamp. So what would be the point? No one would ever see it, and they aren't selling it as a 3.4.......which according to the valid spec number, it IS a 3.4.

So what would they be "pulling"?

It's probably just the result of a screw up at the plant, although the fact that the second stamp spec doesn't exist makes it odder.

If it is real, it's pretty unique, but not sure if it would add more value to it. Personally, I wouldn't pay more for it than any other 3Ghz chip from the same line......but then, I had to permentaly kick the "collectible" craze when I almost lost my mind in Magic:The Gathering back in '99
