150 gig raptor Q?,s

Thread Starter
what noticible affects does the raptor have over standart hard drives can it reduce load times a increase over all system proformance ?

also does 10,000rpm make more noise?

i know they sound like noobie qwestons but i havent really had the time to look into to it.

From what I have gathered from other postings and a few reviews, one raptor will help slightly in load times and performance, but running 2 in Raid0 is where the performance is significantly boosted. As for the increased rpm, it generates more heat, but im not so sure about noise.

Yes, raptors make everything faster. However as TheLegend stated there's a factor of more heat and yes the drives are louder.

However, I personally suggest getting 2x 160GB hdd's and putting them in RAID-0 (two hdd's working as one), they would cost considerably less money, and you would get better performance that one single raptor drive.

Back then I bought my Raptors for $99 with a $30 Mail-in-Rebate. So 2 Raptors for $140 yea! Thank goodness for Black Fridays.

About the noise, they're not noisier then my WB 120BG 7200 rpm drive. I also have some cheapy hardrive fans I bought from svc http://www.svc.com/fhc-350-bb-42.html does a good job, lowered my temps about 8C.
