Eggaklty !! Isopropyl all the way! I too use rubbing alcohol ( u'll get it at the chemists) for just about everything -- be it cleaning my mouse before a lan party

or my in-ears , glasses or even my phone once in a while ..
Be wary :
potential problems/benifits:
1. It'll leave behind a bit of coppersulphate! cuso4 is not going to evaporate with the alcohol! This film is basically trace amounts of a salt that frankly do nothing ...
another cleaning and there'll be the same amount there,. no accumulation.
2. Never go ahead and clean a lens w/ alcohol ! Only isopropyl / a better ROR solution if what you have is expensive. If you're in delhi , then try chandini chowk for all ur chemical *cough* needs!
3. Alcohol is fab. when it comes to cleaning up the hardest of TIMs

IF it fails, personally, I use kerosene oil

its either alcohol or kerosene that does it for me ! Then clean off the kerosene with the alcohol and you now have a squeaky clean surface !
4. It helps when cleaning electronics yes! No static is produced cause you're not rubbing dry surfaces!!! But don't take my word on that .. Just logic.
5. Be careful! PCB's can be multilayered and aggressive rubbing with a solvent can have undesirable effects I'm not aware of!
6. You may just cake up mud ! better to use a can of compressed air ! I tried to get a can from the UK but those fools at the airport don't mind deos, but scoff at compressed air ! good lord!
