Anybody try to overclock p5n32sli + 9xx

Thread Starter
I have a 920 stock clock at 800MHZ FSB.
I can't post above 930MHZ FSB. Here are my setting:
AI overclocking set to manual
FSB optimize mode enable
memory optimize mode disable (also try enable)
PCIE set to 100MHZ
Memory timing set to auto and also manual
I try increasing vcore, nb, sb, and memory voltage
spread spectrum is disable
PEG link mode is disable
NB and SB hypertransport = 800Mhz

At 920Mhz i was able to run prime95 overnight, but BF2 crash. At 800Mhz, BF2 is ok.

so in the BIOS you cant get it over 232 FSB? Well, it's not the CPU, I can tell you that. Mine has primed stable at 280, and it will boot and run fine (even folding) at 287, just can't get that prime Large FFT test to pass 3 hours.

The motherboard you have is not known to be friendly to OCing......there are a few people around here that have tried OCing that board, so maybe they have some insight to help take you higher.......

E-Premium. The only reason I didn't go that route was because when I bought mine #1 newegg was out of stock on them, and it was $70 more than the Premium. They are in stock now, and like only $30 more now.

There is a good chance the 975 chipset on the E will support Conroe (not 100%, but better chance than the 955 on my board), so it's a better buy.

It seems like everyone is getting 9xx CPUs and P5WD2-E-Premium boards now around here

bob i couldnt oc at all past like 3.8 on my 3.2 940,

with the p5wd2-e premium it went 4.4 no problems, now i just need a bigger psu so i can get 4.7+

This motherboard because it's based on the nforce chipset has major stability issues past 250FSB. The highest stable FSB i've seen anyone achieve with this board is 261FSB (Anandtech review), and I myself have only gotten it 100% stable at 253FSB anything further causes system instablitiy for me even though I have plenty of room vcore and ram timing wise, nothing seems to work.

Got to overclock to 230FSB and able to play BF2. What I learn is i need to plug in the 4 pin connect beside my video card. I was thinking this is only need for a SLI setup. But seem like you need it even for non-SLI setup. I was able to get to 239FSB, but need to lower memory speed. This is strange because my memory is Gskill stock at 667. FOr now, i just at 230FSB and 667 memory.
