Temps in the BIOS are not at "idle". Windows uses the system idle process to let your CPU "relax". In the BIOS your CPU is actually at somewhat of a load, so you are going to see higher temps in there. But, your temps sound kind of high and you stated your PSU is hot. This very well could be the problem. Unstable voltages wreak havok on a system. Do you have a multi meter? If so check your voltages via a molex connector. Let us know.

Yes definetely get your hands on a multimeter and test via a molex connector if you think it could be your psu.. Also I just don't get how your cpu could be that hot are you using a standard hsf or an aftermarket deal?? anyways just make sure it is very tight against the cpu

You can get a really cheap on that works ok for about 3.99 to 7.99 US; and a really pretty fair one for 20-50 US. For this, you only need the 5$ one. The other temps could be from 2nd cpu, case sensors, mb sensors, other aux fan sensors...I think ya can configure speedfan all sorta ways. But get the multimeter--or VOM all ya need right now.

The BIOS reports aprox 80% of the Full load. Your way to high!

Cpu is reported in bios to be at 35c and 20c when I first boot windows - then it increases graduly as the "remote" temp goes up (reaches 60c and crashes)

Is the "remote" on speedfan PSU?

What do I do with the multimeter? Ive only used one in physics 2years ago lol

Thanks

this does not sound like a psu problem to me.... Not sure exactly what it is, but if you want to check the psu put the multimeter leads in a molex connector ( polarity doesn't matter ) 1 lead in a black wire ( center 2 pins ) and one lead in the yellow pin ( on one side ) thats that 12 volt
