remote desktop software?

Thread Starter
i am wondering...what is the best remote desktop software that i can get my hands on for free?

i am looking to access my desktop via my laptop while in class or around my college campus to download stuff, check my folding, or maybe chat on irc.

my desktop runs on x64 and my laptop is xp sp2, any suggestions? free programs are a big plus, but i may be willing to pay 20-30 bux for a great solution.

thanks for the help!

How is your desktop connected to the internet? If your desktop has an outside IP, you can use Remote Desktop Connection, which is build into windows. Just enter the IP your desktop has, and your in!
