New build for a friend!

Hello OCN,

So I need your help with a build for another good friend of mine. This build will cost 1k+- CAD after taxes. He does like to game but nothing extreme. He is a big fan of HoN and similar games. Also, he has all the accessories but the OS. I would like to use Win 7 for this build. Finally, we will be picking up all the parts from this store exclusively:

http://www.canadacomputers.com/index...9347ukaf0p8nt3

So far, we have the HAF 922 and Windows 7 home premium (x64) on the list of parts. All help is appreciated (Don't forget to add the case and OS stated above to your lists).

Thanks Again,
Wasbo

EDIT: Forgot to mention that he will not be overclocking the pc (yet) so CPU coolers are not really necessary and it would be preferred if the build was Intel.

An i5/i7 CPU on the 1156 platform, will do it for him. Teres plenty to choose from, just look for 1156 stuff, and decent graphic card that will fit within his budget and resolution.

Ok..this is what I came up with so far but I am missing the motherboard. It is a little costy. Is there any suggestion on a motherboard and anything I can switch to lower the price a little?

Does he need that much storage? If not, I would go for something like a Corsair SDD with around 256GB or 128GB of storage. SDD's are a lot better. I'm planning on using one for my first build. Might as well go with an Asus or EVGA Motherboard. I recommend i5 if he's a pretty casual gamer and i7 for performance between extreme (i7 extreme) and casual (i5). Go to www.intel.com and it has a test drive. You select 1 out of 2 options out of 5 catagories. Simple and affective. The only problem is that for the gaming, if you select extreme, it always recommends the i7 extreme. There's no in between. Just a heads up.

Does your friend want a case like the HAF? If he wants one thats simple, might as well go for the Antec 300. If he wants something a little more advanced but not like the HAF, go for the Antec 900.
