Its been awhile since I first posted but I just recently found the time to work on this. A few hours of work and I was able to successfully pencil mod this motherboard.

A quick run down on the numbers.

Prior to the volt mod (2 kOhm resistance):
BIOS: 1.3875
Idle: 1.361 - 1.370
Load: 1.331 - 1.340

After the volt mod (0.8 kOhm resistance):
BIOS: 1.3875
Idle: 1.381 - 1.384
Load: 1.372 - 1.381

As you can see I didn't manage to eliminate Vdrop and Vdroop entirely but was able to reduce it to ~20% of what it originally was.

A word of caution, however, if too much graphite is applied it is possible for the voltage to exceed the level set in the BIOS. So make sure to monitor your voltage levels when pushing for a new OC.

As always, perform this mod at your own risk.

Edit: Resized image. Added resistances.

Added to the Vmod essentials.

Which Pins of the IC is that resistor connected to, Pin11 & Pin12 ?

Oh, and can you tell us the original resistance values?

The original resistance value was 2 kOhms.

The results after modding were obtained at 0.8 kOhms of resistance.
Testing at 0.75 kOhms resulted in the voltage occasionally exceeding the voltage level set in the BIOS under load.

Unfortunately, I'm not sure which pins of the IC the resistor is connected to.

Hmm... I might have to do this to mine so I can get 4GHz stable. I don't like setting 1.475v in the BIOS only to get 1.42 under load.

So... I attempted to perform this mod on my 79XTD-EVO.

I was shading in the right resistor with a 6B pencil from an artist's graphits pencil kit, but I could not get the resistance to change for the life of me!

I was reading 1.9-2kOhms the entire time, even heavily shaded. Eventually, I just erased what I had shaded and booted the PC to see the same vdroop.

What am I doing wrong?
