SLi Issue

Thread Starter
I installed the second of my two 7900GTX cards a few minutes ago, and even though Windows detects both cards, they refuse to go into SLi mode.

"You must remove any graphics cards that are not compatible with NVIDIA Scalable Link Interface (SLI) technology before you can enable SLI."

That's the message I get from the NVIDIA Settings Console.

I've completely removed the drivers and reinstalled them, and checked the BIOS settings on my board, but I am at a loss as to why it won't allow me to go into SLi...

Any suggestions?

Install the drivers on 1 card only...then remove it and install drivers on the other card as a single. reboot and add the second card. i would also use the drivers off the cd first before trying newer ones.

I was using the beta drivers, and now I have installed the drivers that came with the card with no change. It comes up and says that it's SLI capable, but then when I go to enable it, it tells me to remove any graphics cards that are not compatible...

*sigh*

It's possible that I may need to RMA the mobo, but I sure hope not

It's not the mobo, it's definately the drivers and how they were installed,

see if you can clean out the drivers and do the, Install Card #1, install Drivers, Install Card #2 (w/o Card #1), Install Drivers. Put them Both in, with SLi Bridge, load the BIOS, enable SLI and reboot

To do SLI do you have to intall drivers for both GPU's? i thought you could just add the 2nd card and fix the BIOS (my board) then enable it in nVidia options

Also my friends CSS alwasy crashes on him and its the only game taht does. Is that from SLI?

Well... I finally got it working.

I found the setting for SLi in the BIOS, but when I enabled it, windows wouldn't boot. I removed the drivers and still it wouldn't boot, so I said screw it, and just reinstalled windows with the BIOS settings proper (I hope) and it's up and running. It SAYS it's working properly right now, but I am downloading all of the 3dmark tests to be 100% sure...

And then I hope to throw down some seriously nice benchmarking scores on a stock set...
