[Fraps] How to record longer?

Thread Starter
I'm in the middle of some intense Aion World PvP, and the game is on my SSD. I just installed Fraps on the same SSD, hoping performance would be at it's peak.

Now my only issue: Our fights last a long time, and I need to find out how to increase the video capture ability.

I would appreciate any help, and thank you in advance!

you need to record the video to that spinpoint as it can get large. it should be in the settings somewhere, if not registry. the uncompressed video can and will get very large.

This. I did a test once: a 15 second video of GRID at 1920x1080 was 2.6 gigs. You don't want to keep that sort of thing on an SSD.

AFAIK, you can't change the limit on Fraps recording caps. It records as much to make a 3.8 Gig clip, then starts a new clip, til that clip reaches 3.8 or so. Unless you are talking about wanting to capture more than 30 seconds at a time, in which case you have to buy the software.

If it's the former, then just use some sort of video editor to assemble the clips into one long clip.

Well, I changed the Folder to save movies on my SpinPoint, but was it a wise choice to put the Fraps on the same SSD with Aion?

The game took up 10GBs, and I still have 29GBs to use on the SSD.

I just wish I knew how to record longer.

Thanks for the tip, and I hope to hear from you soon!

EDIT: What's AFAIK?

Also, I'm recording on 2048x1536 8XAA... but I notice if I record at 30FPS..then my frames are capped at that rate. Can you guys give me some advice? Furthermore, I need tips/guides on editing software. I'm really new to all this, but I need to capture great footage first!

I would like to record more than 30 seconds as well, shame.. looks like I need to buy the software.

Yes, you have to have the full version of Fraps to record more than 30 secs.

The frame cap is just how Fraps works.

Try recording at half res (don't change the ingame setting, change the Fraps setting). That's 1/4th the pixels to deal with.

There are other ways to get around 30 seconds without buying it but we can't talk about those on this forum.

I don't see any settings for Fraps? I thought it records the Res I'm on in-game, but if it doesn't how can I edit some settings?

I used to run into this issue when recording raid videos with fraps onto my external. The problem ended up being that I had formated my external in FAT32 instead of NTFS, and the max file size in FAT32 is 4Gb.
