use 4 or 8 pin power connector?

Thread Starter
for the supplementry power (not sure exactly what it's for, ever since p4's..) on my p5wd2-e it has a 8 pin power connector,

when I got it, four were covered up by a rubber seal. I've just used the four pin for now

Any difference between the two, my PSU comes with both,...

The 8-pin is an additional EATX 12V power connector often used for Dual Core CPUs (Dual Xeons for example).
Since you have a Dual Core I'd say go ahead and use it.

that is not technically true

If your PSU has a 8 pin connector, use it. If not, don't. The board is made to support both styles.

I am currently, and for the last 3 months or so, been running my dual core on that board with just the standard 4-pin. the manual even specifically states it is not required, just available.
