Overclocking does not ruin the life of a processor significantly when the processor is operating in good temperatures.

BTW, how many people keep their processors for the full 3 years that they are warrentied and expected to last? If you were running a processor from 2002 or 2003 it would be mightly slow.

My current rig completely replaced a 10 month old system (swaped from 478/AGP/DDR to 775/PCIe/DDR2)......and I plan to upgrade to a 940 as soon as they drop in price after Conroe is released, probably about 8 months. In 2 years or so when the quad cores (end of 07? Beginning of 08?) come out I'll upgrade to them........ no idea what the future holds after that, but I doubt I'll run the same CPU for 3 years.

I never keep a processor too long but I also do not wish to give/sell a processor to someone if I have not taken care of it.

It is in my personality to take care of the things I own. Whoever gets my used parts always get better than worse. For me it is not about warranty and is more about treating the hardware decently. This of course is a personal choice.

I don't sell on E-bay. As a matter of a fact, I usually give my old parts away. Whether you believe me matters little to me as I certainly have offered you my disbelief.
