4 GHz swing and miss

Thread Starter
So I just decided to try and overclock my CPU. I'm running at 3.9GHz right now, but I have no idea if it's stable or not. I'm not certain as to how I'm supposed to run two instances of Prime95, but I was at 4.01GHz for a little while and I wanna get it again.

Here are my details:
-Pentium D 830 Smithfield Frequency at 260 with 15x multiplier.
-1040 FSB with headroom
-vCore raised to 1.45v with headroom (temps idle at 33C, load at 38C)
-Ram running at 1:1
-locked PCI-e components

Anything else I can do to stablize this 4.0?

Download this program (Stress Prime) It uses the Prime95 code but utilizes a different and easier gui.

Research:

Create two folders on your desktop. Unzip the stressprime into each folder so you have two separate folders of stressprime. Then run each program. Choose the cpu0 and cpu1. Small for one, large for the other. Run both.

if you want to run dual primes just make an extra short cut of it on your desktop or where ever you like your utilities. You can then run 2 primes at the same time, same thing goes for superPi.

Thank you for that. Any ideas as to how I should increase my stability at 4.0GHz?

Increase Vcore until temp permits.
you know increasing those never helped my stability or over clock, the only thing that has realy worked has been bumping Vcore. If you have realy good coolign you can bump the vcore quite a ways, but if your temps are pretty good, then you can increase a few notches from where you are now, but heat will become an issue. My cpu stays chilly all the way up to 1.55vcore, then it starts to warm up a bit, but still way cooler then my BT.

Yeah, I have have custom WC, so Temperature isn't that big of a deal. I ran two instances of Prime95 for 4 hours, then the computer rebooted. Max temp was about 45C. Is this stable enough? It was at 3.9GHz.
